Ok, I'm starting a thread where we can discuss usability issues concerning the Filter Manager.
One small oddity that annoys me: If you LMB-click-drag a filter onto a folder on the category/tree view area (left side), the filter is moved there (as expected) AND the target folder becomes selected (with its contents now being displayed). When LMB-click-dragging a filter onto a folder on the filter browser side (right side), the filter is moved but the target folder does not become selected. Why this inconsistent behavior? Personally, I'd rather the target folder did not become selected when moving filters. That way, it would be less of a navigational click-fest when mass-categorizing/sorting. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Yes, this works right and as expected as you say.
Yes, I have tested this and I agree that it should happen the same as above, and the target folder maybe should open and show the folder contents in the same way. Maybe perhaps this is not done this way because if you have multiple subfolders and multiple filters in the filter browse window or pane (right side) and you want to organize multiple filters in multiple folders, it would open each time the destiny folder and you would need to go back to the previous folder to continue organizing and this way as it is done now you can continue without this possible problem as the folder destiny is not open or selected. |

To clarify my point:
Moving a filter into a target directory via drag-and-drop should NOT make that target folder become selected. --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Agreed. Forwarded to programmers. (Windows 7 also doesn't select the drag-target folder in the treeview.) |

We've implemented the above. Should be out with v4.008.
Anything else regarding the Filter Manager usability in general? |

Do you mean if there is any further bug or problems? Or if there is more suggestions for added features? I have one suggestion, and that is to be able to copy and paste the same filter to different folders when using custom filters, because you can do this easily already with filters from the library, but you can´t do it with your own created filters, or at least I do not know how to do it as I have asked in this thread here |

According to the FF4 feature page, "[...] Filter Forge stores the results of up to 10 recent searches you made."
However, I'm only ever seeing my 6 last searches. Bug? ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

Just a tiny thing I noticed:
When clicking on the triangle icon that expands/collapses a folder tree, the root folder of that tree becomes selected. Don't know whether this is intentional or not, but IMHO a folder should only become selected when its folder icon or its name are clicked on. The triangle icon on the other hand should only expand/collapse folder trees.
It's just a tiny thing, I know, but it can result in a lot of re-selecting when re-organizing custom filters. Hint: Windows Explorer does it right again. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
