Do I need to uninstall v3 first or can I just install v4.
Sorry meant to put this in the "Filter Forge 4.0 Released: Official Thread". My mistake. |

You can install Filter Forge 4 alongside with 3, they don't share any filters or settings.

Hello. Thank you for promptly sending me the email this morning containing my registration number for Filter Forge Professional 4.0. I appreciate it.
I just became a Filter Forge user barely a month ago when I purchased FF 3.0, along with pre-ordering FF 4.0, so I am obviously a newbie, and I have barely gotten my feet wet. At any rate, upon installing FF 4.0 this morning, I realized that, as you noted above, 4.0 is a completely separate installation from 3.0, including the folder that is stored in the "Application Support" folder under Mac OS X Mavericks. Upon recently receiving the library backup DVD for 3.0, I installed the entire library from the DVD, as well as some other filters which I downloaded directly from your site, into 3.0. Upon launching 4.0 for the first time, I realized that all of the additional filters which I had installed in 3.0 are not included, obviously because 4.0 has a separate folder in the "Applications Support" folder. So my question is this: What is the safest, easiest, quickest way to transfer or import all of my filters from 3.0 into 4.0? Is this even possible, or am I going to have to use the backup library DVD to install those filters into 4.0, and then re-download the filters I had also downloaded directly from your site? If there is no easy way to do this, I would like to suggest that you consider writing some kind of migration assistant which will automatically import all of my filters from 3.0 into 4.0. Finally, I have a question regarding the lifetime license. Being as I just purchased 3.0 a month ago, and pre-ordered 4.0 at the same time as well, I am a little confused, and I am wondering how the lifetime license offer affects me, and how much I would have to pay for it. Thank you for your kind attention to these matters. I look forward to your response. WordWeaver |
