Important: the current beta has a bug that slows down the rendering on SSE2-capable processors such as Pentium4, Athlon64, AthlonX2 or Opteron. The official fix will be released in the nearest update, but you can fix it manually:

Here's how to increase the rendering speed: 1. Close Filter Forge 2. Go to C:\Program Files\Filter Forge\Bin 3. Delete the file "Filter Forge x86.exe" 4. Create a copy of "Filter Forge x86-SSE2.exe" 5. Rename that copy to "Filter Forge x86.exe" 6. Run Filter Forge and enjoy! |

			Just checking....

If your machine is NOT on the list then you need (should) not touch anything - Right? Mine is not. I did the fix. Everything stopped working and I had to re-install. Good thing it's quick. Rô _________________________________

byRo -- You did everything right. Yes, the fix won't work on non-SSE2 CPUs, and a simple reinstall is all you need to rollback Filter Forge to its previous state. |

Minor technical correction - the bug prevents SSE2-based optimizations from being used, so it's not about being slower on SSE2-enabled processor, it's about not being faster

Thanks for the tip regarding this. I did notice however that under start-program files-filter forge-filterforge <-by default is a shortcut to filterforge.exe and not filterforge x86.exe. Is this intentional or should it actually be executing filterforge x86.exe? Great app!

also, I am running an 4800 X2 athlon, and did not notice too much of a difference from changing .exe's. Should this fix have affected my performance? Thanks guys!

That's correct -- filterforge.exe is a loader that detects (incorrectly at the moment) the SSE2 capability and launches one of the two executables. |

Yes it should -- but on 4800 X2 you probably won't notice |

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but when the processor has the SSE2-capable, It need to be activated in some place (Bios/Program/...), or the programs recognize and processors active/use It automatically? |

I guess you can turn it off in Bios, but by default it should be turned on and detected by programs automatically. |
