Are there any animation or film companies using Photoshop? I'm wondering if use is widespread enough that as my skill increases I can add that to my LinkedIn resume as a skill.

smile:?:

using Photoshop? As far as I know there are lots of them for sure

Perhaps you mean, animation and film companies using Filter Forge instead of Photoshop?

I do not know

I thought that maybe they may do not like FF much because it does not have fast preview and is sometimes slow, but considering that this companies has a very high budget they would have very powerful computer, much more than the ones we have so they should not have a problem with this.

I have seen that they buy things like the new Intel Quad Xeon 32 cores (4 Xeon chips not quad core on a quad chip motherboard) that cost about 12.000$

Photoshop is pretty much used everywhere and everybody will have some adobe software in their studio computer anyway.

Typically companies don't exactly say what they use. The obvious ones are obvious but the in-house tools, python scripts, countless vfx utilities, and many others rarely get mentioned unless the company that develops them asks for testimonials or specific opinions. There can be "trade secrets" heh.

I can safely say that my friends across a variety of studios have used FilterForge sometime in the past to do something to their work. They mostly would be making bitmap texture tools and otherwise. But I don't know which studios specifically use it in their workflow. Pretty sure there are a couple.

I have a lot of Photoshop experience. Not so much on Illustrator and haven't used InDesign. Not a lot of 3D experience either - some SketchUp and 3DS Max years ago when I had a student license.

I know 3D companies sometimes have procedural texture guys and thought if any studios are using FF to build custom filters for inhouse use it could eventually be one more line item on the resume. Every bit helps. smile:)

There really are. I would prefer not to disclose specific names but a Japanese motion picture company of Californian origin have purchased several dozen copies of FF.

Also, many gamedev studios, including the most prominent ones, use FF for making textures.

Ah I meant using FF of course - darn old brain. Anyway that is good to know. I will work on it a bit more and try to get down at least the basics of scripting. Thanks.
