James, what do you mean by importing the filters? Do you mean you want to transfer some downloaded filters to another machine which has no Internet connection? If so, in which way are you trying to do it?

You didn't actually download the filters, just a bunch of links to them.

(A filter has the extension ffxml, the download links on the library are actually .ffcmd which are essentially links)

You may have to tell your web browser to open the .ffcmd file type automatically in FF so that the whole download process happens at once.

Errrhhmmm... just what toolbar do you mean? I'm afraid there's no Import Filter Option in Filter Forge. Could you please post a screenshot of where the option is?

So what are you actually trying to import? .ffcmd or .ffxml? If these are only .ffcmd, uberzev is quite right - they aren't filters, just commands for Filter Forge to open filters. How did you download them?

The main menu bar has a import filter option, not in the filter editor in the browser.

From the Filter library, when i click on the Open In Filter Forge button it lets me save the files, thats how you suppost to get them right? My other computer is offline and im trying to use them on it but im having a hard time doing so. I don't see why this isn't already a option, we should be able to just download, transfer and import i think.

Oh i should probably add why i want to do this maybe, basically this computers very very slow and freezes up when i have FF open and it's trying to reder the texture, it would be great if we could turn the automatic rendering as i think that would solve my problem of opening filters up in the actual program rather than saving to desktop in mozilla.

James, we think we know the answer now.

It looks like Filter Forge is uninstalled on the machine where you have Internet connection or the installation is damaged. So, when you click the "Open in Filter Forge" button, the browser will not open or download the filter (because it cannot find Filter Forge) but will offer to save the .ffcmd file instead.

So, what you have downloaded are just .ffcmd, not actually filters, and it's useless to transfer them to your offline machine.

If you wish to transfer filters, you should do the following:

1. Make sure Filter Forge is installed correctly on the machine with the Internet connection.
2. Enable the old-style Filter Library in Tools > Options > Online > Use the built-in library browser.
3. Go to the Library (click the "Download More Filters" button) and download the filters you need.
4. Then transfer the downloaded .ffxml files to the offline machine together with the LibraryStructure.xml file.

Alternatively, to spare you the trouble of downloading the filters, we can send you the filters by email. If this suits you more, please let me know. If you need further instructions, you can reach me via the contact form at http://www.filterforge.com/contact/

P.S. But after all, where did you find the Import Filter option? smile:| There's no such thing in the Filter Forge main menu... smile:| We are dying to know! Pleeease, PLEASE post a screenshot!

Aah, so that's what you meant... I wouldn't call that "import", that's more like "export" smile:)

Yes, you can do it that way, but you'll need to transfer the LibraryStructure.xml file as well. It's stored here: "C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Filter Forge\System"
