Microsoft have released Windows 8 today, and we have updated Filter Forge to add full support for Windows 8. Unfortunately it forced us to implement a different type of license key that is incompatible with any other FF version.

If you use Filter forge 3 on Windows 8 we encourage you to download and install a new build of Filter Forge 3:
http://filterforge.com/download/softw...0Setup.exe

This a fully-functional trial version that, to say it again, won't accept your current license key. (we're setting up the key distribution process, you will be able to request a new key here soon). The only difference from the production FF3 version is that it doesn't throw weird exceptions on Windows 8.

Please treat this as a beta version – that is, don't use it for mission-critical purposes – and we will greatly appreciate any feedback from Win8 users before this version goes into production and new keys are distributed to all users of FF3.

Thanks and nice to see that FF is already compatible with the new Windows 8

I suposse that we that have Windows 7, do not have to change the key and can keep the same as we already have.

I will NOT upgrade to Windows 8 as I do not like it and do not see the point of upgrading to this new version, WHY?

You will have to start again from scratch and from the very beginning and install again every single software and everything you already have working in your Windows 7 version and all this for getting what as reward?

I changed from Windows XP to Windows 7 as I did not like Windows Vista, and I like very much Windows 7 so I will not change to Windows 8 as I do not see the point of changing and I do not like at all the new METRO interface.

Wow, Windows 8, just what we all wanted, a phone OS on our desktops, that's not compatible with anything.
Release the Mongoose!

Simple Rules and Key Ideas: 1. If you don't like it, don't buy it. 2. If something doesn't work on the latest OS, don't buy the new OS immediately. 3. Nobody's forcing you to upgrade immediately, and you'll eventually upgrade when you feel like it.

The big question: why are we so angry? The answer: Because we expect things to come out perfectly as imagined during the early stages of a mobile OS revolution where even the developers can't tell what'll happen next. Oh boy.

lol come on... You'll be trashing your hardware and upgrade that software after 2 years of good use. People are so angry about electronics these days....

Oh and by the way... this thread has officially gone off topic.

I agree with all 3 points and is true that you are not going to buy something you do not like, and is much better to wait until all the things are compatible with the new OS, and of course that is always up to you to upgrade or not, at least initially as it can happen than later could there be reasons to upgrade, but it is always your choice.

WHY I AM ANGRY? I am not angry at all, and do not feel bad about Windows 8, and I do not care about it, I had Windows XP and was good but with some limitations and problems, then came Windows Vista and was not good and have more problems than the things could solve, so I skipped to Windows 7 that I installed 9 months after it was available and I am very happy with it and is much better than XP.

WHY I have to change to Windows 8?

For me is not the same to upgrade from Filter forge or another software than to upgrade the OS

Windows 7 is already very good and stable and I do not have problems with as I had with XP, and is great and works well, so why I have to change to windows 8 ?

I do not see the point and reasons to upgrade to this new OS, AND is NOT for me the same that it could happen with a new version of another software that you are EXPECTING and WISHING that they included this or that new feature.

I do not care at all about Windows 8 and I will keep with Windows 7 unless I find a good reason to change.

According to a survey I have seen the 65% of people will keep with their older Windows version, and 25% could think about upgrading, and only 10% likes the new Windows 8 as it is.
