I need an IntSlider which has the range of 1..10 on the UI but
internally produces values between 10 and 1. With a float slider I would just swap the min/max limits in remapping, but that's not an option here. |

If it can be green (map input), then rgb math subtract 11-IntSlider. If you need a grey input the only way I can see is to use a map script to process 11-IntSlider and all inputs accordingly.

Why can't you remap IntSlider to the 10...1 range the same way as you can with Slider?

xirja: A map script produces a green output but I need a gray one.
GMM: Oh sorry I forgot to mention that the input slot is expecting an int value and in that case the remap box does not have "Minimum" and "Maximum" sliders, only "Step" and "Offset" which don't accept negative values. I want to control the "Repeat" value in an image bomber with a control named "size". Without mirroring the range a greater "size" value would produce smaller particles, which is confusing. Calling the control "repeat" is not making much sense in the context while "smallness" or "shrink amount" would be just lame. For now I linked up a float slider but that's not ideal either. |

Oh right, I really hate this. It makes logical sense how the int values don't have remap the same as float controllers so I've been basically bypassing the problem by not designing filters that require that (heh REALLY!) And in any place I CAN, I use Math nodes to invert values. Multiply values by -1 basically. But that doesn't work with everything, for example slots that require controls are just not going to accept images.

So a custom map script

I've been trying to do the same thing. For now I'm just going to have to settle for naming it "Size (inverse)".

One idea for the filter (not the slider) is to make it the minimum size (as in repeat = 10) by default and then use a scale component to size it up. Don't know if that's gonna work in this instance, but have done something similar before.

Neat idea. Unfortunately the scale disables the seamless checkbox
so I couldn't use it in my case. |

You could override the seamless checkbox, (Filter Editor: Filter>overrides>seamless tiling) but if you really want seamless output, this solution will not necessary be what you want.

We're currently rewriting IntSlider in order to fix Groups (I'll post an announcement soon), so perhaps we can sneak a Flip checkbox into the Int-to-Int remapper. We'll see soon.
