You can try compressing the catalog with Winrar. I think the compression ratio should be good in order to be able to upload it.
You can always upload it to filefactory....

Craig, you've been gone so long?
Download the latest version here:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/71wy5.../FFCat.rar

You can watch the video tutorial on how to use it (Well, a very old version of it) here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJuv6LUOc5M

I'm working on a new video that will include ALL the new things that are available, like drag&dop filters to folders, double click a filter to open it in FF, and much more.
I'm also working on a PDF manual, for easy reference.

Here's a summery of what FFCat can do:
Quote
Here's a summery of what the tool can do now:
* create your own categories (folders)
* add as many filters as you want to a category
* add a filter to multiple categories
* add custom keywords to filter
* add custom description to filter
* rate filters 1 to 5
* search filters by name\author\default keywords\your keywords\description
* arrange order of categories (move up\down)
* rename categories
* delete categories
* remove filter from categories
* delete a filter from the catalog
* sort filters by library ID\author\filter name\rating
* double click filter to open in FF
* see 9 default presets of the filter (Like online library)
* filters in list are thumbnailed
* see presets of your own (offline) filters
* images are cached for faster preview
* drag a filter from your disk into FFCat to add it to the catalog
* drag a folder from your disk into FFCat to add all filters in it to catalog
* see ALL filters
* see ONLY UNCATEGORIZED filters
* see filters in current category
* see how many filters you have in total
* select multiple filters
* see keyboard shortcuts

and most important: Have fun!

Morgantao in your well done and long list there one important and vey useful and interesting missing thing

You CAN drag and drop a filter into the folders you want !!

This is really a great thing and very good to organize the filters in a fast and easy way

You're right. I wrote about it in the paragraph where I said I'm making a video, and forgot to add this to the list.

You can select multiple filters and drag them all at once to a folder, too smile;)

Thanks for noticing smile:)
This is why I need to make the video already smile:D

Here is the newest updated catalog file as it can be seen in this screenshot from previous page

In this catalog filters are still NOT organized, only the folders are active but still empty

When I organize the filters I will upload the new file for you to use if you want.

Also here there is ONLY 1449 filters, I will put more later when I will be organizing and searching the FF library for more useful and interesting filters.

It is compressed with Zip

IMPORTANT

As the forum does not allow to upload zip files, I have changed the extension, so you will need to rename the extension back to .zip to open it.

Catalog - Change Extension to ZIP.ffxml

One note on the file that SpaceRay uploads, the double click on a filter might not work, since the file path of each filter is pointing to a path on his computer.
Some of the files might have a different path on your computer, and others might not exist at all.

You might want to import the ffxml files on your computer.
It will fast synchronize the paths of the matching filters, and add new filters.

Here's a simpler solution:
Attached is SpaceRays folder structure, with no filters in it. All you have to do is download this file to where you have FFCat, rename Catalog.xml to Catalog.zip and extract it.

Now just import your filters from:
%appdata%\Filter Forge 3\System\Library
and from %appdata%\Filter Forge 3\My Filters

Don't forget to thank SpaceRay for his folders, and Saragani for everything else smile:D

Thanks Morgantao for making a clean version of my catalog

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - MY FOLDERS LIST IS NOT AT ALL COMPLETE AND IS FAR AWAY FROM FINISHED !!!!!!

There are MANY categories and possible things that are NOT yet included that I want to put.

YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO UPDATE THE CATALOG LATER

If you think that as it is now is useful for you go ahead and use it, but BE AWARE that once you have began modifying it you will not be able to update or change it anymore with a future version I could upload with MORE categories and folders.

SO YOU CAN START NOW OR WAIT FOR A FUTURE VERSION

If you want you could wait until I have a more advanced version of the folders list before you can use it.

Oh yes, of course I forgot that the catalog is related to MY COMPUTER paths so it will not work on others computers smile:dead:

So then my idea of making a gift to you uploading an ORGANIZED catalog with all the files inside the folders could be not possible if you then can´t use it.

OH, do not bother to thank me for this very little thing, is a pleasure to help and share this with all of you.

What we really MUST give a million thanks is to Saragani for all the hard work and of course to Morgantao for everything he has ALSO done and had the idea of making this.

Yes, but if they import the filters again, it will sync it with the new paths without damaging the data that is already there.

smile:?:

As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) if you start now from my own uploaded catalog file made by Morgantao without any filter inside and just the folders structure, and you fill it with your own imported filters and organize the files as you want it, then after you CAN´T add additional folders structure I could upload and share here, because there is no way to merge catalog (OR I think that there is no way to do it) OR there is no way to copy or sync the information from one catalog to another to expand the folders.

I am not in any way asking that this could be possible, and you work more for this, is just to clarify things and now about it, and perhaps I am missing something or I am wrong in what I think that is the way to do it or what can be done.

SpaceRay, you are correct. smile:)
If I start populating the folders you created, and then I download your new folders, I will have to start again from the beginning.
There's no way to merge two catalogs into one.

OH!! I went to the filefactory download link and is true that it does not TEMPORARILY allow to download the file, BUT if what you want is to try it, there is an alternative latest version that what does not work is only the feature of double clicking on a filter to open it in Filter Forge

To download this alternative version go to this link that is not from filefactory and do not have to sign up or anything

Saragani or Morgantao, perhaps you could upload the FFCat to another possible server company as a mirror in case like now that the Filefactory does not allow to download the file free, so if you have two sources, one would surely work if the other do not.

Thanks

Morgantao now I have checked the Filefactory to see it is available for downloading again the compressed file (I have deleted it, only have the executable) BUT I have seen this message

Sorry, this file is no longer available. It may have been deleted by the uploader, or has expired.

This error is usually caused by requesting a file that does not exist

Yeah, that's the problem with FileFactory and MediaFire... If you don't pay them, they keep your files for a short time only.

That's why I need a better solution, like someone's website, or premium account on one of the file sharing sites.

Here's a new link:

Having FFCat now available is like finding a big treasure chest, now you can have things that could not find before and is the same for me like opening this chest and finding all this XML treasures and golden filters and very worthy filters.

I want to thanks again for having created this very useful and well done tool that HELPS VERY MUCH to organized and keep the filters with your own custom way and so it is much better to use FF in much easier way, and with all the very good included features is perfect.

I wish and hope that this will be compatible and possible to use also in FF 4.0 as I do not think that the FF team will make something as good as well done as this, as probably they will not be able to have so much customization and features as this has.

Morgantao, I think that for this you would be better to contact by email to FF Team instead of waiting for an answer here.

Although I do not think that the FF team will be interested in your great FFCat, BUT you never know, perhaps they could be interested, so I think that the best way is to contact them directly.

You probably have heard of ShareCG... but if not, you should check it out. I have had a couple dozen Poser format 3D models uploaded over there for a couple years (I'm "McGyver" over there) ... no charge, it is easy to use... all anyone has to do to download from there is to register/create an account at the the site (which is free). I don't know if having to register is a negative thing or not to some folks.
I have never had any problems with them, no viruses or spam... it's fairly easy to use and free. This file could probably go in the "Scripts" or "Plugins" category.
If this is not your thing, no worries... just thought I'd throw it out there if you were not aware of it.
