yes, i always thought everything was in temp internet files, if you just knew what you were looking for. but, how does YouTube, and a couple others, manage to not put their videos on your computer? |
----I assume it's because all those yootoob and similar videos sites use flash to show the videos. If something buffers through windows media player, unless it is DRM protected (in which case you couldn't view it anyways without a license key code etc., so it wouldn't be) it is on your computer, and you can go find it and save it from a temp file (or just click *File* and *Save Media As* or whatever usually).

yes, the file type on the youtubes is .flv . i assume that's a flash extension. at any rate, i downloaded firefox 3 and firebug and, sure enough, sjeiti is right. it was all there. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

can we use the same 'before' more than once, therefore showing different applications of different filters to the same image? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

how often is the gallery checked for new submissions? i've had one in there for a few days now. i know, it was over the weekend, as well, but is there anything else we need to do other than what's on the submission page? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

We cannot forbid this, but similar works are unlikely to be approved. We need variety and creativity in the Gallery.

well, i had wondered. still, i would think, to a certain extent, that presenting the same base image (the before) and that with very many different treatments done to it, that it would give a good comparison of various FF effects. but, maybe that shld be the purpose of a different type of gallery, so i wont argue this too strongly.
thanks, GMM If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

GMM it seems when you update a thumbnail or text etc it removes the entry from the gallery till the update is approved.I think it would be better to keep the current version up and just updating when approved

Hummmm........
I think that we should not set too restrictive rules.
I would say:
1. Max and minimum size in Kb. This way we can avoid that the pictures will end for taking too much space in the site, and also that some user may upload too low quality or too small pictures.
2. The Filter Forge filters used to make the picture.

It already shows the info needed as far as the size you need and the linkage needed for the filters used...Go to the "Submit your Work" button and there it is.. Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!

Good idea – we'll consider implementing this.
