I'm new here....and have just purchased the standard version of filter forge...I love the way it works, so easy to use...I'm still in the experimental stages..but so far I am impressed...My only problem is that I'm still using the trial version...even after I bought it, cause when I got my registration key and entered it on my computer, for some reason it froze and just quit on me...when I finally got to it to work again my registration key wouldn't work any more...I mailed my problem but as of yet I haven't recieved a reply...hopefully someone can help me on that..cause I really love this program,....and here's a little about my self..I'm retired supervisor, and have picked up photoshop as a hobby, I enjoy manipulating photos, changing them around...I don't use Adobe Photoshop...but I do use Photoimpact..I was surprised that the plug-in works great on this software too...anyway..if anyone wishes to see my work please visit my webpage at.
http://mundolopez.com/ Thanks P.S. I will have quite a few questions later on on how I can use these features more effectively... Mundo |

			hi mundo,

you'll want to post something in the bugs forums for your registration key problem. i dont know if photoimpact is on the supported list, but i'm guessing a lot of photoshop plugin compatible programs work with FF. it is an .8bf type plugin. also, post what o/s you're using and any bug reports you might have received. the more data, generally, the easier to debug a problem. and welcome to FF. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Hi thanks for the nice welcome...

Yeah FF does work with Photoimpact..(but only version 11..luckily I got them all)...cause so far I am using FF on it..but just the trial version...and there it tells me I only have two days to use.. What happened was that after I got my registration key my computer froze...and completely crashed...and I guess what happened is that it took the key..but after the crash..I had no choice but to restore the computer to an earlier date..and now when I apply the key it won't take it ..I get a message that says Invalid user, or invalid key...I already got an email from someone..but they wanted to know what version of FF I had...so I'm still waiting to see what happens now... Yeah I agree there's lots to choose from, I've been stocking up on filters ...hopefully I won't lose them, when I finallly get my FF program fixed.. Mundo |

Okay looks like it has been fixed...but now I got two version on my Photoimpact one that's says FF 2.0 and one that's 1.019...one says trial and the other has accepted the key...so now I'm confused..lol. anyway at least I got one that works..

So what is the differance? is one better then the other? ![]() Mundo |

ah, there are two current versions. v1.019 is the actual, main, this is what you bought program. FF 2.0 is the new version being tested under beta. you need two separate product keys, one for each of those versions. i believe you get the product key for one the same way you get the other, but you'll have to make a separate request for it and specify which version it's for. i have two computers with 1.019 on each and 2.0 on each, so i have four product keys and yes, it's a pain in the butt when one of my computers crashes
the nice thing here is that you shldnt have to download filters more than once. they are completely transferable computer to computer, as long as you dont try to run v2.0 filters in 1.019. but, you can run 1.019 filters in 2.0. v2.0 has not been officially released yet. it is still in beta test. so, whatever you have now in 2.0 may be completely obsolete in a month. you also cant currently upload 2.0 filters to the filter library here online. but, yes, 2.0 is much more powerful than 1.019 already and there's still more to come. they are testing 2.0 in stages. we've already seen stage one and two and are eagerly awaiting stage 3. sometime after 3 i believe i heard that 2.0 filters will be able to be uploaded to the library, or a library... somewhere. but, that's unofficial. i am not a filter forge employee, just an annoying fan and user. i've never used photoimpact, but i know one other person over on retouchpro who does and where he says it's not as powerful as photoshop, perhaps, it's a hell of a lot cheaper and he can do pretty much what he wants to do using it. so, what's your opinion of it? If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Oh yes Photoimpact is much cheaper..but I've had no problems with it, of course it's not as powerful as photoshop, but it works for me..by the way I do have Photoshop CS2..and also elements 4...but to be honest I find it so difficult to work with it...I just can't get the hang of the layers thing...whereas photoimpact has layers option too, but don't have to use them if you don't want to...

So I can request a key for the beta version too? the 2.0? even if I they already gave me one for 1.019? Okay Photoimpact does not have much in filters...(one of the main reasons I got FF} but other then that it's pretty much the same, and I find it a lot easier too...only problem is they have come out with so many versions of it., it's almost ridiculous...I started with version 8 then they went to 10 then 11 now they got 13 and one that's called X3...but to me they're all the same, just the price differs... Welcome to Filterforge
Cool picture.. not too keen on the break in the texture on the left though where it cuts in about level with the robots abdomen. Shame it doesn't follow the curve line of the bit above, to me the picture would look super great if it did. And no clue about adding to the ff gallery never tried, hope someone that has helps you out. Nothing wrong with a little insanity ;)

No...Photoimpact, although last I heard Corel which I believe is for PSP, is now merged with Ulead which is for Photoimpact..or something like that..anyway. I've used PI for quite a while...it would be hard for me to start again with a new one....Oh thanks

Funny I didn't notice that..until now...I guess what happened, I ran filter of the whole image right after I was done...must be a filter effect that made that curve, not sure..I'm still new at this...and not yet familiar with all the settings..but I'll get there... Mundo |
