Well, I found Filter Forge while looking for a way to modify some graphic designs I've made and I love the program. So I splurged and bought the standard version a few days ago while it was 30% off. ARGH, I wish I'd waited. I logged in today to find a filter to create a "curtain opening effect" (which I found and worked great) and I see that the prices are no at a 40% discount! Oh the humanity!

Oh well, you win some and you lose some. What can I say. Also, this is my first post here in the Filter forge forums so I wanted to say "HELLO" to everyone. Finally, I do have a question. I'm one of those who learns really well by reading stuff. So anyone have any recommendations on a good book on creating new Filters in FF?I'm in a love-hate relationship. I love the taste of donuts, but hate what they do to my behind. |

hi philoneus and welcome to FF.

no idea on the discount issue. FF, inc. will have to answer that one. as for creating filters, there is a built in help. there are wiki pages that authors have created and of course, there are these forums. i dont know of any actual books on the subject yet, though, i'm tempted to write one If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

			WELCOME TO FF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it seems you missed out on $20. If you want, you can contact the FF admins and try to beg the money out of them. As Craig said, check out the FF wiki. And it always helps to download filters and take them apart to get a feel for how the components interact, as well as checking/posting in the "creating filters" division of the forums. May the Forge be with you! |

Hi Philoneus, welcome to Filter Forge Forums!

AFAIK there aren't any books on FF yet. I agree w/ Ray: 1) Check out the wiki 2) Download stuff and take it apart! And, I'd also add: 3) Learn to love the Threshold Node |

Well, same thing happened to me with the buy early and save 30% . . . wish I had waited to. No good contacting FF. You will get no response. I haven't.

Anyway, I'm wondering why my life preserver disappeared . . . and any filter with a life preserver now loads as white. |

When you create a new *New Image*, even the same (600 X 600) size as the life preserver, you can choose a color or transparent backgroud, but the life preserver is gone then until you reopen FF. jffe Filter Forger |
