Non-square images not rendering correctly

This is probably the most asked newbie question but, hot do you get rectangular images to render correctly? FF seems to only render in a sqaure.

Solution: Make sure your source images are square before running discrete filters on them, i.e. extend the image canvas so the image becomes square, run the filter, then crop.

This seems like something FF could automate in a minor release.
