Hi all,

I just upgraded my PC with a Core2duo e4300 that I overclocked to 2.7 Ghz from an Athlon 64 3000+. FF is no longer the same. Filters are processed so fast now : this is a real pleasure smile:D
Before I had to wait minutes to render filters so that I had to turn off the anti aliasing feature.

Also, new Intel chips have much better FPU/SSE2 core smile:)
Previously I believed that AMD is the only proper way to go (from K6 days until Core chips came out), but Intel did the right thing resurrecting the P3 line for desktop instead of slow and power-hungry P4. I still wonder why they didn't do that much sooner -- they've seen that Pentium M (a direct P3 descendant) is performing amazingly good even at low clock speeds, why it took them like 3 years to dump P4 smile:(

While 1.5Gb ram is good for FF, your GF8600 won't help you ... yet smile:)

I'm on a dual-core Opteron 170, and looking forward in the future to upgrading to quad-core for an even better performance boost!

Congrats on your new system!
I'm enjoying using Filter Forge to create http://torley.com/textures
