Filter Forge, Inc. is a privately-owned business with no external investors / shareholders, and at the moment we have no plans of selling it.
A bunch of smart, mostly Russian guys and girls ![]()
Well, I thought this was perfectly obvious based on my forum posting history ![]()
Not necessarily me, but yes, I do assign them. In the future, I'd like to distance myself from this completely.
My knowledge comes mostly from knowing the FF internals and the computer graphics skills I acquired during my previous careers. However, taking on a 4-year long project with over 200 000 lines of code is an unreal task for a single person, so the specific knowledge about the FF architecture can only be contributed by our programmers.

Vlad, thanx for that info.....puts a human face and personability on all of it!
![]() It is excellent that you have this privately owned without any outside investors or shareholders.....so you can do this exactly the way you want without answering to a board of directors.....and no one else takes a slice for your efforts..... This is definitely the most clever graphics software concept I've ever encountered.....and growing the filter library from filtermaker incentives is just pure genius!!!
Well, if you can't get anyone else, I'll do it for you.....[next day.....flood of posts]....."Hey, all of the Editor's Pick's are StevieJ filters...." ![]()
LOL.... Send check or money order to Uberzev, PO Box 2010..... ![]()
Ah, I think you're right....it all makes perfect sense ![]()
Yes I am.....ooooops [fumbles back through auto-responses].....'Crapadilla'??? Never heard of him ![]() Steve

While your on this subject Vladimir are sales of ff going according to plan, it very hard to tell because the people using the forum or submitting filter doesn't seem to have grown greatly, after all your effort and investment I'm sure all the regulars are hoping your are reaping your just rewards. I don't expect sales figures I'm just curious that things are going to schedule as I'm sure it's only a matter of time as the word spread wider that it does.

Yeah I too am curious to know if FF business model rewards you enough. Despite the growing community, I don't know if FF is renown by professionals. They are the ones that could afford to buy the full version. I am no professional, just an amateur graphic designer and texturer and I cannot afford to buy FF. Unless I can win a free copy (which is unlikely), I will not be able to use FF any more soon. That is really sad cause I don't use FF filters. My interest in FF is to fulfil my passion for textures and creation. Thus that would be great if there could be a possibility to continue to be able to create new filters after the completion of the trial period without the possibility to dl and use filters. That would be perfect to me and I could continue to contribute to FF and learn further even I am denied the possibility to to win the free copy.

PogS, I would suggest contacting FF and requesting an extension on your trial period.....keep improving your existing filters while making new ones.....and it will probably happen for you.....

I'll surely do that and will hope I will learn fast enough to become a winner before the expiration date of the extension. I understand FF better now than at the beginning and I have now a clearer vision of what can be done and how. But my filters do not raise much interest
![]() Unfortunately lots of basic things I'd like to do are out of my reach because of my incomplete understanding of FF. Furthermore the help section does not provide me enough explanation to learn much from it. I think more examples and concrete demos should be included. Most explanations are still obscure to me. |

I would suggest putting the pressure of obtaining the free copy out of your mind....focus on learning and experimenting with the type of effects that you like most.....and as you go, use what you learn to go back and improve your existing filters.....which will also help keep your existing filters active and visable....
For example, Angleboii has alot of useful concept filters. Take one that you like, disect it (spread out components in groups to better understand it), experiment and learn how everything works, then come up with your own creations building upon the concepts that you have learned..... I think the most useful filters are (1) simple mainstream photo and special effects, (2) building materials for design renders, (3) Metal grate design panels for design renders and game environments, and (4) artistic effects that lend themselves to work in combination with all kinds of other effects. If you come accrossed an idea that you love and can't figure out how to achieve it, post it in the "Creating Filters" string and ask for help. Ronviers and Rawnart have been making very good use of this method..... After you get a useful one polished up and submitted, start posting example pics in the comment string to show its' applications beyond what can be shown with the life preserver.....and will help keep it active and visable while helping users to see what it can do at the same time.... Hope this helps ![]() Steve
