this isnt a bug and not much of a problem. more like a curious about.

what happens when i mod someone's filter and use the mod instead of their original filter? do they still get credit for their filter being used when you collect the useage data?

normally, when i mod someone else's filter, i simply add 'rev 1' to the title of the filter so i dont end up trying to submit it as my own later on. this simple addition to the title tells me the original was not my filter. so, can FF tell that this 'rev 1' mod is not 'mine' and give credit to the original author or not? i'd hate to think i'm depriving someone of a reward just because i added one or two extra controls or something.

The best thing to do I guess is to make a comment to the author and tell him to do it himself.

Why not ask the author of the filter themselves -they may not care If it was me I would see it as your own work

Lets face it all cars are built upone the original premise but a ford is a ford and a chevy is a chevy

If you change it enough to be unique I see it as your work and a only a courtesy to acknowledge them
hope that hleps

well, one, i dont want to always have to contact the author and probably wont. and two, this is more about seeing that the author got some sort of usage credit towards a reward point than about anything else. if i used a snippet by uber, how does FF know to give him any credit for usage. maybe they do, but i have no way of knowing that for sure. i just want to see the original author get some credit for his/her filter being used in a mod.

----I don't see how that could happen, it's just not set up like that. Best bet = just put a note in the description when using snippets, and maybe make a public note on the forums, a shout out to so-and-so for the killer snippet or filter idea etc. smile:)
