I have a very specific question. After perusing this forum, I haven't found a definitive answer. I'm hoping you all can help!
First of all - these filters are amazing!
I am a designer of digital cardmaking/scrapbook kits. I create digital background papers and various digital elements, such as clips, tags, ribbons, etc.
If I use one of your filters to create an element or background paper for one of my kits, am I allowed to include that element for sale?
For example...if I am creating a Valentine's Day kit, and I want to include some chocolate heart buttons - if I use your chocolate filter in the creation of my buttons, am I allowed to include them in my kit for sale without obtaining any type of specific license from you or the creator of the filter?
I don't want to sell the filter - I just want to sell the element I created - and the use of your filter might have been one of many steps to get the final element.
I would LOVE to purchase this program - mostly for the use of the filters that everyone is creating here - but I do not want to spend the $$ if I can't use them to create elements that will be sold commercially.
I hope this makes sense? I sent an email to Admin but have not yet heard back.
Thanks so much!!

there are NO royalty fees on the filters or on the works created with them. in fact, if you make a filter, you own it.
but dont take my word on this. read the EULA (end user license agreement). it's all in there. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Hi Kraellin - thanks for your response. I guess it's this language in the TOU that is tripping me up a bit. I worked for many years in Copyright Licensing for music and intellectual properties, so I'm a bit wary to just assume. I'm hoping that there is some language somewhere that expressly states that a commercial use is ok.

hmmm, i'm not sure where that comes from but it looks like it might pertain to the website and its contents.
i also dont know why the UPLOAD EULA isnt more prominently displayed ON the website. it shld be.
here's the portion i believe you're looking for. you find this when you upload a filter to the library. you have to click ok before you can proceed with the upload.
there are also similar threads in the forums here where others were also concerned or wanted more clarification. have a look around here as well. vladimir, the main FF person in charge, has gone out of his way to assure us that YOUR filters are YOURS and your works created with ANY FILTER IN THE LIBRARY are YOURS. so, i have no reservations on all this. but, you are quite right in wanting legal assurances and my testimony doesnt count for that
so, here's the first part of the upload eula from a screenshot: If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

The preset images are "owned" by the filter creator, as they qualify as individual "works of art" technically/legally, and are only for example purposes. Other than that, there are no copyright restrictions for commercial use of the filters that I am aware of.

Thanks everyone! I got an email from Admin at FF, and it appears that elements/designs that I create using filters obtained through FF are fine for commercial use! Again, sorry to take up a thread with something that might be redundant!
I also want to add that this website is amazing and the community (all of you) who contribute to it's content are also truly amazing! What a great resource! I am looking forward to exploring the program and the content - I spent hours this weekend just browsing the filter library! WOW! Truly talented people here!

Hi Playathomemom~
I'm so glad you posted. I happen to make 'many' filters geared for scrapbookers and would love for you to take a look (just click the filters number under my name). The diamonds filter makes pearls and chains (look in the comment section to see an example). I have a lable maker, background paper, ect,. Even have a scrapbook paper frame coming out with photo adjustment controls. Tons of scrapbooking stuff.
