Hello,
Running Filter Forge 10 , Photoshop 2022, and Windows 10. I have an image that I’m processing in Photoshop. I reached a point where I want to apply a filter in Filter Forge. The new version of Photoshop isn’t compatible as a plug-in with Filter Forge. So, I need to use Filter Forge as a standalone. How do I take my image from Photoshop into Filter Forge and then bring it back to Photoshop? Thank you in advance for the help. |

Hello Helen,
It's pretty simple: Select your image in Photoshop, press Ctrl+C to copy the source image. Then switch to Filter Forge, press Ctrl+V to paste. Apply a filter, press Ctrl+C to copy the result. Switch to Photoshop, press Ctrl+V to paste. |

Hi,
You’re kidding, right? It’s that simple. I’ll give it a try. Thank you! |

This is very interesting as I did not know that this is possible and is looks very easy as an alternative to the FF plugin
Also another
The old way I know is that 1 - you save the image you are using in flattened mode in JPEG or TIFF or in PNG (with or without transparency) somewhere in your hard drive 2 - then you load it in Filter forge standalone and apply the filter you may want and save it again in the hard drive 3 - Load back the modified version in Photoshop and continue working |

I found myself using the “old way”. At the time, it made sense.
I’ll be curious to see how well the copy and paste will work. |

Since FF10 can't be used as a Photoshop 23.02 plugin, I tried this method several times today, including restarting Windows 10, but the Paste command in FF was greyed out. However if I copied an image that was inside FF, then the FF Paste command became active. Any idea what is wrong? |

Sounds strange. Does it happen with this specific image or with any image? Please try copy-pasting a random jpg file. |

It was a classic case of make false assumptions and you'll come to false conclusions. Not being familiar with the process, I assumed that selecting the Photoshop layer where the image was located, was sufficient to do a Ctrl-C. Turns out you need to do a Ctrl-A or use one of the Marquee/Lasso/Wand tools before you can do a successful Copy and Paste into the stand-alone version of Filter Forge. Once I figured that out, I was able to use it without trouble. Sorry for the confusion. |

That's not entirely true.
See this post for details on how to make FF work in APS 23: https://www.filterforge.com/forum/read..._SUBSCRIBE Look down the thread a bit for my replies... ~Myrrdraal~ |

also if you are copy and pasting from APS to FF us Ctrl+a to select all, then ctrl+shift+c to copy ALL layers...otherwise you only copy the current active layer.

see this post:How to make FF10 work in APS 2022(ver23.0.2)https://www.filterforge.com/forum/read.php?FID=8&TID=16449&ACTION=TOPIC_SUBSCRIBE It doesn't work out of the box during install like normal no. But again, it WILL work in APS 2022 if you install it manually. I am using the most current update of PS, (as of 12/10/21 9:56am CST) It has to be basically stolen from the plugins folder of whatever compatible OTHER app you have it installed for. For me, I also have cPsP2019, (Paintshop Pro 2019 by Corel). It is compatible with FF10 plugin and shows up during install as an option. I installed it for CPsP, and then stole the FF10 plugin folder from the installed location under CPsP, (copy folder). I then pasted that into the photoshop plugins folder....Violins! it was now available in PS... (after I restarted photoshop). I will say however it is very slow, but it WILL work that way if you really need it to be there. ***Notably: when i say slow keep in mind I am working with images over 5k pixels and 300+ dpi. So smaller more normal size images will be much faster, I imagine. ~Myrrdraal~ |

Thank you for the information Myrrdraal. I am aware of the procedure of copying and pasting the relevant FF folder into PS. However, currently I have a new PC with a fresh install of Windows 10 and no old apps. Using Photoshop with a stand-alone version of FF requires a few extra steps, but it's not a big deal, and the new and improved version 11 of FF should be out in a week or two, so I'll just wait for that. |
