Guys ... I really WANT to spend money to support your Company but unfortunately, I'm completely baffled by FilterForge Perpetual Library Backup & Perpetual FilterForge Librarian.

- first ... the naming of these two programs really sucks ... sorry, just being honest. I can barely "say" those names out loud without my tongue getting all twisted up.

- second ... I sort of understand the purpose of Perpetual Library Backup (all the filters offline in one place), but the name suggests it's a backup for MY filter library ... confusing.

- BUT, why is this a completely separate program instead of an added feature in FIlterForge?

- and then, there's Perpetual FilterForge Librarian which is even more baffling. It's like a "favorites" ... where I load my favorite filters into FilterForge? Doesn't FF already have a "favorite" folder?

- and you have to buy BOTH of them in order to work?

- PLUS, I have to pay for new versions each time there's an update, but there's no added functionality to the software?

- soooooooo ... 3 pieces of software to do something that already takes 1? Can't these simply be unlocked features INSIDE of FilterForge?

I like you guys ... you're doing a GREAT job ... I want to send you money, but I'm completely confused. I actually bought these two pieces of software a year or so back ... opened them up, played around a little ... and I still didn't understand their purpose or how they help me ... abandoned completely.

Think why Microsoft Office is a completely separate program and not a part of Windows (which you need to run Office).

No, it's not like favorites. Please check the help page for Librarian:

No you don't have to pay. You can download filters from the website for free.

It's a backup! People who buy new versions of the backup pay for us to add new filters to the backup.

Can't optional features that one doesn't really need be simply ignored?..

GMM: Think why Microsoft Office is a completely separate program and not a part of Windows (which you need to run Office).
JOBOX: I'm not sure that's a good analogy ... my point was, FF has 3 completely different programs to maintain "filters" ... it's baffling.

GMM: No, it's not like favorites. Please check the help page for Librarian: https://filterforge.com/more/librarian-help.html
JOBOX: Well, it's basically the FF website inside of a software program where you can organize and send your "favorites" to the actual FF program. But yeah, I can already organize and have a favorites folder in FF already ... so???

GMM: No you haven't.
JOBOX: This is from your site "Note that Librarian requires a Library Backup license to operate. If you don't have a Library Backup you need to order both products."

GMM: No you don't have to pay. You can download filters from the website for free.
JOBOX: I'm not talking about the filters, I'm talking about the software. This is from your site "Being an archive, Filter Library Backup doesn't have any update functions. Both Filter Library Backup and Librarian are linked to a specific Filter Forge version, for example, Filter Forge 6.0 won't accept filters from Librarian 5.0." So that means, whenever a new version comes out, we need to pay for new versions of the software without any added functionality"

GMM: It's a backup! People who buy new versions of the backup pay for us to add new filters to the backup.
JOBOX: I'm sorry GMM ... I'm more than willing to buy more stuff from you guys, but I really just don't get FilterForge Perpetual Library Backup & Perpetual FilterForge Librarian. I know you're trying to carefully explain, and maybe I'm just dimwitted, but I just don't see them as a "value add" to FF since I can already do 90% of FilterForge Perpetual Library Backup & Perpetual FilterForge Librarian within FF already.

my 2 cents .. good luck smile:)

Uhm, no, this is not about favorites. Think of the following: a user is working in Antarctica/Australian outback/behind a corporate firewall with no Internet access but needs to load this, that and the other filter into Filter Forge. In this scenario they need to order Library backup that contains all filters and Librarian to pick out sel ected filters for loading into Filter Forge. This only needs to be done once: as soon as filters are loaded into FF, you can put the backup aside.

You can perfectly use Library backup without Librarian but not the other way round. You can also use Filter Forge without any addon whatsoever.

Well, sort of. The added functionality is that Librarian 6.0 becomes compatible with Filter Forge 6.0. Whether it justifies buying a new copy - is up to the user.

Yes! This is the message I tried to get across! Different users have different needs: you don't need the addon products and can safely ignore them. Filter Forge perfectly works without them. If this functionality were implemented in the main program it would cost, like, $40 more. In that case you would have to pay for the functions you don't need, while now you are not paying smile:)

JOBOX: And THIS is the message I was trying to get across ... if it were implemented INSIDE of FF (as a plugin or add-on), I probably WOULD pay for it. But having 3 separate pieces of software to manage filters seems like overkill to me. smile:)

Anyway, I get it now ... thanks for the explanation smile:)
