I'm currently on FF4 Pro. In order to upgrade to FF6 I will have to upgrade twice since there is no upgrading from two or more versions back.
This creates the following situation. It is more cost effective to skip the upgrade, and wait for an 80% discount on a new FF6 license, rather than pay $120 for two upgrades. The sales come along quite regularly anyway.
So there is no incentive at all to upgrade, and the stopping of upgrades from FF4 soon doesn't make me want to upgrade either!
Unless someone can convince me otherwise ...

You are correct. Moreover, we ran a promotion about a month ago, offering users of 4.0 to pre-order 6.0, skipping the fifth version altogether.
In other words: you are not forced to upgrade. If you don't need 5.0, you just don't upgrade.

I don't seem to have received that offer email. I had a few emails from FF about upgrading 4 to 5 but never 4 to 6 directly. Here are the special offer emails in the last 6 months:
21st March: "Spring is blooming, and we've got an exclusive offer for long-time Filter Forge customers: at the moment you can upgrade your Filter Forge 4.0 Professional to Filter Forge 5.0 Professional for $54 instead of $129" It's not that email.
11th May: "You won't be able to upgrade your Filter Forge 4 to Filter Forge 6 directly but you can upgrade to the stable Filter Forge 5 at a special price: $54." So it's not that email either.
28th June: "At the moment you can upgrade to Filter Forge 5.0 Professional at a special price: $54 instead of $399." It's not that one either.
24th August: "At the moment you can order an upgrade from your copy of Filter Forge 4.0 Professional to Filter Forge 5.0 Professional at a 50% discount: $64 instead of $129!" FF4 to 5 again.
So I have no emails from FF about a month ago offering an FF4-6 upgrade or pre-purchase. Can you please remind me? Or would you consider extending that offer to me as I don't seem to have received the email first time round?

RichardL, that's interesting. You seem to be missing an email from July 26. Did it fall into your spam folder? In any case we'd be happy to extend the offer to you: please contact the support team quoting this forum thread.
(A side note to everyone: if you ever see an email from us marked as spam, please click "Not spam"! Your mail server will learn to treat our emails as legitimate).

OK thanks I will contact them. I checked my spam folder but it erases everything more than 30 days old unfortunately so there's no way to check.
Thanks
