NEED DESCRIPTION OF OBSOLETE FF COMPONENTS?
Do you need and want that the obsolete components of FF are included ? I am sorry, because I do not see the point of including them in the manual ? Why is included inside the manual if they are obsolete and is recommended to use always the atest version ? Please, Anyone wants and need to have all the obsolete filter included ? I have that the description and explanation is exactly the same and just copies all, and is about 85 pages of obsolete filters.
Thanks very much for the +1.000.000, it seems that you would like MUCH to have a PDF manual, do you? ![]() It is true that having it in PDF could have many more uses than just only in CHM or HTML format. |

What is wrong with the CHM file? Is it that some people don't have software that can read CHM?

If there is anyone here who is already signed up at a file sharing site, or you want to host it yourself, I'll give you the PDF to post there. I cannot host it at might site because I have a tiny account and I don't know what it will do to my quota. But I could put it there for a few days, if I knew someone would grab it right away and then I could delete it.

You can always go to Dropbox, and open a free account that will hold up to 2GB.
All you need to do then is post here the username and password you chose and anyone can download it. Note that you don't have to install the desktop application, you can use the browser. The desktop application is only useful if you want to sync several computers. |

Do you have a already a converted PDF file of the FF CHM Help file ? Does Include the hiperlinks and they are active ? I was signed recently to a file sharing because I needed to send some big files to another person, but my subscription ended on 31 January 2012, so I can´t help. But Morgantao have given a very good suggestion and idea. Could you please tell more about HOW you have converted the CHM to PDF ? Because I have use the Adobe Acrobat PDF X Pro and it works very well. BUT then after looking at the result I did find that although the result was very good: 1 - The links was just highlighted and kept in blue BUT not active and working 2 - The images (as it happens in the CHM) takes a great part of the page and the text is NOT wrapped around the image so a lot of space is lost, specially in large preview components as bomber 3 - The text for my own and personal taste is too compressed and too joined toghether, and I wanted to give it a fresh air and that it could breath and be easier to read and remember, and separate the topics. 4 - Organize the finish and ends of pages so is kept the topic as much as possible in a tidy and good way across the pages, so the titles does not appear at the end of the page and the rest of the page in another different page. 5 - Optimize it in a way that you could use it on your computer BUT also thinking in reducing space if you want probably to print it, so I want to keep the same text in 12 points size BUT taking as less space as possible BUT as said keeping it well separated and easier readable. SO it will be probably less pages and more greener. 6 - From my personal opinion, I do not think is needed to have the Obsolete components part of the CHM guide BECAUSE I have compared it and it has the same information as in the ACTUAL and NEWEST component, so why spend more than 80 pages on this when from my point of view is useless? This is what I mean when I above have posted the text below. I have already made 240 pages and have around 100 pages more to go, and tomorrow 2 February Thursday night I will be able to continue working on this.

NEXT PROJECT IS TO CONVERT THE WIKI AND GREAT OTHER INTERESTING LEARNING TEXTS NOT INCLUDED IN CHM
The CHM is very good and very interesting, but this is only the begginning to learn, there are MUCH more very interesting and very important information inside the FF Wiki and other parts of the forum that could be joined toghether and make also a NEW single PDF file that include this too. After making the previous post I wanted to separate this text above, so i have put it it in a new post but found that it was put IN A NEW PAGE, so is no longer toghether so I have decided to copy again the text from my previous post here below.

Yes
Yes
I described this in a previous message here.
Maybe because you printed to PDF. Anyway, I had lost track of the fact that you already converted this. And it looks like you are going to edit a lot anyway. As you probably found out, Acrobat doesn't give full editing of PDF, as you might in a DTP program or word processor. But it looks like you are on your way to having it complete. |

I'm wondering if maybe after converting the CHM to PDF you could use Adobe Indesign to edit all you want, while preserving the active links and having the text wrap around pictures.

There are also CHM to Word converters. I guess, really, the idea is to figure out the editor of choice, and then see if the CHM can be converted directly into that, preserving links. One could even use a CHM or HTML editor.

YES !!! YES !!! YES !!! You are absolutely and truly right !!!! Thanks very much for solving the mistery, with only 6 words you have helped me much ![]() I have tried Acrobat X Pro and other software, and it seems that many use the "Print to PDF" conversion as the best way to do it and get the best result. And now that you have said this, I have seen the light and found the solution ![]() Of course I did NOT think at all that if you use "PRINT to PDF" even if it not for printing it on paper, the file result will be really like it has been PRINTED in real virtual paper, so it would act and feel like one too, so is not possible at all that any active link could survive. Regretably I will NOT make a new conversion WITHOUT using the "Print to PDF" as I have already converted 320 pages of the CHM conversion in Word (CMH---> PDF---> Word), and will not start again.
The problem is WHICH software will let you convert from CHM to PDF including and keeping the active links AND also deleting automatically all the huge blank spaces that are inside the CHM file as it happens very well with Adobe Acrobat X Pro. If you find the way, as seems Andre B. have done it already, the idea of editing in Adobe Indesign is probably not bad and could work possibly. Do not know because I have only tried the more simple Word. |

Yes, I have tried already a few CHM to WORD converters with very bad results, and ad horribly conversions. Very well said, exactly, the the idea is to figure out and find the editor of choice that will be able to do this in a GOOD WAY and PRESERVING AND KEEPING the link working. CHM to HTML YES, I have already used a very good CHM to HTML converter and made a very good work converting the CHM to a whole bunch of HTML files all organized very well in many individual folders Then I tried to edit the HTML files with some web editor app, but bad results and was difficult, and cumbersome. HTML to PDF Also tried HTML to PDF and did not work well. |

Good news, as Morgantao have also said, What did you use ? Would be possible that you could share it with us and upload it to the forum ? It would help many FF users to learn more in a easier way. I have had a problem with my version of the Manual near the end, I have nearly all finished (without any workink links) but still have to fix it to be able to share it here. |
