Hello,

I have been searching in the FF filter library for a filter that could convert an image to simulate a chalkboard writing or drawing but have not found any that could do this

Here is an visual example of what I am asking

Taken from this web here

Thanks very much

Hey space ray: You could take my blueprint filter and adapt it to get most of the way there. Not sure how you'd do the cross hatch, though.

That's a very interesting concept for an effect filter. Should be quite possible with FF... smile:D

Here in this link I have seen how this effects are created with all these elements shown here

I think that is much more difficult that I thought as they are using many different styles and brush effects to get this chalkboard effect, so probably is not as easy as it may seem, or I am wrong ?

Thanks CorvusCroax for the idea of using your filter, it could work in some way, will try.

Crapadilla do you think that it could be done with different styles effects ??? Well you are already and expert and a master filter forger.

I thought that this filter was simpler and was already done possibly in FF but now after looking the above screenshot on the link I think that it will be really much difficult.

I have tried your well done and very nice filter and is very near from this chalkboard effect, BUT is too perfect, I mean the lines are too defined and very well done, and it would need to have a cross hatch as you have said very well. I wanted to adapt it for this but still have not figured out how to modify it to change the source image to have that chalk difused effect, surely this could be done with some kind of noise, but do not yet know how to use them well.

I have seen your filter and I think that understanding what you have made, the modification should be done to this part here shown below, because this is the part that belongs to modifying the source as the others are for adding the grid and the background.

Here is the example I have done with your filter.

I do not know also how to select ONLY the inside of the letters to be filled with the cross hatch texture if I could do it.

ANd also the inside of any shape that could be done as a source, like a star, a donut or whatever.

As source I have ONLY used the image of the table of letters I have done for this this thread here

I have not modified in anyway yet the blueprint filter and this is with the first default preset

you could try snagging some bits from crayon master for the cross hatch effect on solid shapes.

My attempt. (from the beta 3.0 days) I'll put the pic here, too. The filter has different "drawing modes", one of which I actually borrowed from Corvus' filter. I'll work on the crosshatching later. *not my original image

Cool suggestion, SpaceRay!
Grat work, IndigoRay!
(btw, are you both "Rays" related? smile:D )

This is perfectly doable in FF, and there's a lot of room to a very realistic replication! I'm surprised it wasn't created yet!

I tried a very simple and basic mockup filter months ago and because my lack of time never developed any further.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have followed it and got not only from crayon master, also from other similar filter I found searching in the library for "chalk", but it seems that it works right if it is a big surface, BUT when trying to apply this to letters or small shapes it does look BAD and the same texture does not look the same at all.

I have tried different ways and in different parts to apply the textures but without any positive results smile:( You are surely much better than me at this.

Your attempt example looks very good and well done at SIMPLE chalk writing, and is very well done, but would be good to have also that the filter could find the edges of the image and fill the INSIDE of the shape it could find with the chalk texture. As it happens in the image of the first post.

Please, look at the examples below.

Here I have another example similar to the above on the first post, that have a really beautiful chalk texture

Although this is different than the above because this is done in Illustrator (so they are vectors) and the first one is in Photoshop that is bitmap like FF.

Also this other example

I think that the most similar texture to this one above is from this filter Artistic Rendering -- Chalk

Although I have tried to use this too, but did not work for me, I mean, I did not know HOW to make it work well.

Thanks, glad you like it. No, sorry "we" are not related, it is just coincidence smile:D

Yes, this is why I asked it here, before like you I think is possible BUT the filters that have been done before do not capture the chalk feeling and works over the WHOLE image.
