So for all the benefits of filter Forge, the worst thing is there is a new version every year requiring a new purchase for small improvements and the price fluctuates wildly! Will that continue with ultra Forge?
Because it is already up for preorder with warning of increasing price!! Yet we don't really know what it can do. It is $999 full price which is considerable given other options are available

Yes, I concur with those sentiments.

I purchased Filter Forge Professional 2.0 in April 2011 and the program worked well. The next month I went ahead and ordered the Filter Forge Professional Lifetime Upgrade in May, 2011

I used it in various projects over the years for about a decade until 2021 when I was told that they now have a Studio version. Right or wrong, I read that as sooner or later the writing was on the wall that the original Filter Forge Professional would probably be on it's last legs. So, with that in mind in Jan, 2021 I once again paid to Upgrade Filter Forge from Professional Lifetime to Studio Lifetime

At least the first decade went by before being asked/told that their was a better product. Now we're only two years from the last name change and again (not included in your Lifetime) product change to Ultra Forge with guess what a NEW CHARGE for it too.

April, 2011 first purchase Filter Forge
May, 2011 lifetime purchase
Jan, 2021 lifetime purchase Studio Forge
Jul, 2023 Ultra Forge - sorry, just not going to pay a 3rd time for a so called Lifetime purchase.

I bought an UltraEdit programming editor license in 2006 and here were are in 2023 and they still provide me with a free update on every new version since. That is now 17 years later and no marketing about a New Product name and asking to pay for a new lifetime license.

Malwarebytes has done the same thing. Paid in 2008 for a Lifetime license and they still honor it to this day 15 years later.

If Filter Forge, or Studio Forge die off well then they die off. I'll use them while they last and transition over to another product if I still want or need a tool like this.

Thank you for the ride and it was good while it lasted but when FF and SF get gutted or left behind, I’ll be getting off the ride.

I switched fr om FF7pro lifetime to FF12 lifetime and at first I tended to agree with you. BUT i guess that the FF team is (very?) small and is focusing on areas wh ere revenue can still be earned (video with FFStudio and AI with UltraF)

IMO 'lifetime version' is not a wise business move, and that is why the new Studio version with exclusive features makes sense like premium DLCs for premium applications; finally I upgraded for the Studio edition to show my support and hope that the video stuff will be further developed and optimized, and there are still many many things to improve!

About UltraForge, it's a completely new concept with a new GPU-based engine totally incompatible with FF, I hope this new product will be a goldmine for the company, it will ensure a longer life for 'lifetime' FF users.

Now they email "At the moment Ultraforge is available for preorder at a special ultralow early-bird discount. The price will go up while Ultraforge is moving closer to the release that is planned for the end of the year. If you're into creating and modifying images based on text prompts – don't miss the chance to get the best price now!". Yet it's not even out for a beta test or feature confirmed or how long the v1 license will last. This is bad practice guys, you will lose customers, you will lose my custom with this kind of sales tactic
