This isn't a problem of any sort, just a technical question about something I took for granted before.
When you (FF Inc.) release a new beta version (such as the current stage 3, or 3.004), and I try to start the older version (say 3.003), I get an error message saying that the program is outdated and cannot be used. Obviously, the fix is to download the newest beta stage (which I'm very eager to do right now!). However, I'm wondering how the program on my computer is aware that a new stage has been released. Except for specific filters, no FF3-related files on my computer seem to have been modified past the first week of September.

I really do not know how is done but I have another questions to you
When you try to start the old beta version, are you connected to internet ?
Because as far as I know FF always connects to the FF inc. when it starts so it will know that a new version is released and it will not work.
Have you downloaded and installed the new version and tried to run the old one ?
If this is the case, this could be very easy as the new version blocks the old one.
Is not using the date, because I have changed badly my own date since a few days ago because of a problem I had and my computer is NOT using now the real date.
I do not think that they need to change any file to be able to desactivate the old beta version
