I really like the new "Flexible UI with Resizable Panels" feature, but the dividers should really remember their last position. Currently, whenever I close the filter editor, these dividers reset to their default. The same thing happens in the main UI when you close and relaunch FF.

My hope for a new UI have drown and is dying now. smile:cry: Could the FF lifesaver save it ? Well we will have to see the final FF version, but if it is the same as it is show in my hope and ideas of a new UI will be dead. smile:dead:

I am very sorry, I know that you have worked hard and have great effort to make this BUT is this all that the UI is going to change ??? smile:?: smile:( smile:cry:

The only point where this could be useful for me would be if the filter thumbnails rearrange themselves inside the panel in the same way that the presets rearrange in the window, but instead of this there is huge empty white background. Is this because of an bug or error ?

Please see the attached screenshot, thanks.

SpaceRay,

Vladimir has already mentioned elsewhere on the forums that the GUI will be a huge focus in the development of FF4 (along with a website and library redesign), so we'll just have to be patient. A proprietary GUI redesign just doesn't write itself over night, so until the redesign actually happens the current resizable panels "feature" appears to be a reasonable compromise to me.

On a sidenote: You'd have to look very hard to find areas where the current UI is really hindering productivity in a big way. It may have its drawbacks, cosmetic flaws and inconveniences here and there, but overall it is far from a catastrophic failure that would make the tool unusable.

That written, yes I agree, the UI could be better, more customizable, more convenient, more user-friendly, but still... I'd rather the FF team spend their efforts on giving us more creative tools than giving us a better way to manipulate the current set of creative tools. That's just my 1.618 cents though.
