Hi, I'm a fan of experimenting with different blending modes and the slider to change that is unfriendly because I have to remember the number of the blending, for example, if I want to set Overlay, I have to set the slider to number 10, because that's the number that belongs to Overlay. It would be much friendly user if adding a pull down menu selector, for example, for selecting the blending modes.

Are you requesting a dropdown list control? That's unlikely to happen.

Hi GMM, I was referring to that thing, thank you.

I'm wondering why any of all people considerations about adding new features (basic and very important stuff like a drop down list control, or exporting plugins to 8bf, or doing modifications to the UI, etc) to Filter Forge are not going to happen in further versions of Filter Forge. It seems like Filter Forge hates itself or believes that it's perfect the way it's. I have seen many, many lists of users asking for changes like the mentioned before which response from Admins was "that's not going to happen". How Filter Forge expects selling the program if they don't do important updates? I have tested the beta version 3 and the changes are just insignificant but the prices are the way of expensive! I'm really confused about the principles of Filter Forge in this matter, actually.

Have a nice day!

Hi Mart,

I don't have the authority to discuss our marketing strategies here. Maybe Vladimir will contemplate on this when time permits.

mart,

i cant speak for filter forge, inc. or for vladimir, the owner, but i have observed a few things over the time here. one, i've seldom heard vladimir say he wouldnt add a given feature. yes, there are some, but for the most part they get prioritized, high, medium, low. a LOT of the user requests have fallen into the 'low' category, being generally smaller features than something like a whole new component, though a few of those have made it in from user requests.

filter forge 3 is in beta. it's not done yet. a while back vladimir announced that they'd do the beta tests differently. instead of doing a complete alpha version and then releasing it to beta for testing, he decided to do parts in alpha and release each part for testing. thus, none of us have seen the full FF3 yet. there's more to come.

user requests are tricky. if you were building a house for someone and you drew up all the plans and got it approved and started working on it and the buyer came to you and said, 'hey, can you move the bathroom you just built over there.', it could get a bit rough to comply. there are things i'd love to see changed in the Gui and vladimir has stated that some of them will in upcoming versions. but think on it, the FF code is over 50 megs big now (part of which is graphics). that's a LOT of code. if vladimir stopped each planned feature to address user requests we probably wouldnt have bombers or math functions or scripts or some of the transform functions and so on. i actually have to applaud vlad for sticking to his priorities. to have capitulated to all user requests probably would have been a disaster.

Thanks for the reply Kraellin.

Btw, I think if lot of people is asking about what is considered low priority, then it should be of maximum priority in merchandising terms and by common sense.

Oh, I forgot something more... These "low priority" requests comes from many years ago...

Have a nice day,
