I just got the Beta, and perhaps this is in there but I couldn't find it yet... I'd love to have a 'container' where I can put several components in a box, lock those components into the box, then give the box a label with perhaps a note... what was I trying to do here? What is this supposed to accomplish again?

I noticed the "Planetary Noise Snippet V1" what I describe is more or less what ThreeDee did if you look the top portion of the filter. There is a color controller not hooked into anything with a label "ByRo polar to rect". I'm sure I've seen this done on other filters, and that label is to credit ByRo for the polar to rectangular mapping within the function. Would it be too late to put in grouping containers we can name and comment?

This would, indeed, be handy. I think it's been requested before, but +1 here, anyway.

@jitspoe, if you could locate the prior request that might prove insightful. I'm not sure if creating a 'meta-component/ component container' would be difficult, but as components become more complex some form of meta-notation on a group may become quite the godsend.

Who has had to look back on a filter they did some time ago and thought, "what the hell was I trying to do there?" This may be particularly useful when trying to implement things in 3.0 that took complex components in prior FF versions.

Yup... looks like this request has been hanging around a while. Hopefully we'll see if it is in the works in this version. Meta-grouping and comments would save a great deal of "what the heck?"

Grouping is on high-priority on our list, but it won't be included into FF3.0. However, FF3.0 will contain (actually already contains) many infrastructural improvements that will pave the way for full-blown grouping in future releases (hopefully FF4.0). Under full-blown grouping I mean the ability to "build" your own components with custom inputs from Filter Forge's stock components, not just boxing and naming them.

Excellent! Thank you. smile:) I really wish I could have paid for the 'lifetime' upgrade, but at least I was able to prepay FF 3.0. smile:) I hope enough people throw money your way towards keeping FF upgrades going that I'll be able to pick up FF4, maybe the lifetime upgrade at that time. In any case, thank you. It's a great product and I brag heavily on this to people who create things on Second Life. smile:D

Nice that sounds great, being able to quickly drag and drop any useful snippets with custom inputs into a project would be a amazing feature. smile:)
