Maybe this has been dicussed and answered before.. but..
Are you planing on implementing image import for standalone FF? It would be totaly awesome and 450% more efficient and useful (at least to me..) if there would be the component in which you can specify the external image.. It would rule if you could feed the bomber 5 external images!! Realy, for me using FF exclusively to create textures, that would be such an improvement that i would probably use it for 90% of the time (now i mostly use it to create some base noises etc..) I konw this breaks the "upload your filter to the library" concept, but maybe if you implement some sort of web repository for the images.. or something.. just thinking out loud.. anyway.. would like to know if this is ever going to be implemeted? |

IIRC the possibility to load independent images for each Image component is in the long-distance plans. Maybe Vladimir will shed some light on this.

I agree, this is a must-have. It's on the list, on high priority, but I'm afraid it won't make it into V2.0. Actually it kinda will, but in a strange and perverse form -- you'll see when the Stage 4 comes out

I also think this would be a great addition.
IMHO, This would help w/ the scale issues with bombers, as working with small parts on a large image is often tricky. (You first have to make a huge FWIW: as a work-around I've created a splitter snippet to be able to load an external image, and then split it into 4 parts to feed into a bomber. Some tests over at THIS POST (It occured to me this morning that I could chain the splitters together, like subdivision... so maybe 16 source images) I'd also like to see a subcategory of snippets, made just for bombers. 'Bomber Snippets' or 'Bomber Parts' or something. |

BTW: have you seen the very old filter 'KPT Scatter?'. It handles it's images in an interesting way. You load a series of images into a set, which fits on a grid. The filter has inputs for how to select which particle is selected off of the X or Y axis of the grid. (controlled by the options in the 'variants' tab. You can built a lot of control into that, just by setting up your image library in a smart way.
Another nice thing is how each particle sorting: it keeps track of 'time' and you can sort them that way... setting your particles to, say, get smaller over time, or pick different sets of images. ![]() |
