So, I just installed the v2 beta under an admin account and choose to import all filters and settings from v1.018.
Now, I've been using my FF license under a different account (a restricted one, not the admin account), with lots of filters downloaded. Apparently, the installer routine imported filters & settings from the admin account that I installed FF under, but under that account FF is completely unused. Under the restricted account however, all my downloaded filters are missing and settings have also not been imported. Shouldn't the install routine look through all user accounts with FF user settings and import filters & settings for each account individually, not only for the account that it is installed under? EDIT: I just copied the whole %APPDATA%\Filter Forge\System\ folder into the FF2 folder. Afterwards, the beta executable took much longer to launch the GUI, yet it still only displays the standard filters. Deleting all the .xml files inside the system folder also did not help. ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |

So, is there no way to import v1.0 filters manually into v2.0 beta?

dilla,
when i put FF2 on my vista, 64bit system, i installed FF2 using the import option. it dutifully said it copied everything, and i mean everything, from the 'my filters' folder. but, FF2 wouldnt start. it just crashed with an error message. i couldnt remove things and make it work and i couldnt do anything to get it going. so, i removed all the imports and uninstalled FF2 completely. i then installed it again being sure NOT to use the import option. FF2 started right up, nice as you please. so, with that now working, seemingly, i copied my entire 'my filter' filters into the new version. FF2 choked like a chicken caught in a fence and i got the same error message as before. that struck me as a bit odd, so i thought maybe it was one or two filters that werent quite compatible or something along those lines. so, i removed all my personal filters again and FF2 started right up again. also note: every single filter from vers one worked just fine in vers two if you used my method... eventually ![]() so, i decided to find out where the bug was by putting back only some of the filters. i put like A through L or something. FF2 started up after a little lag and seemed to work ok. so, added some more and again, it worked after a bit of a lag. once i had all the filters in place from vers 1, my filters, i began to scroll through the list and FF2 choked and crashed again. now, i thought that a bit odd, removed some filters and ran it again and it worked again. i scrolled down through the list again, letting the thumbnails and cache stuff catch up, figuring maybe it was just windows that couldnt keep up with my 5000+ filters in 'my filters'. sure enough, when i let all the cache stuff catch up and fill out, FF2 worked just fine and hasnt crashed on my since. so, my best guess is, if you have a LOT of filters, like 1500+ that you're importing with the import option.... dont! just install FF2 and then import by hand about 1500 at a time and then scroll through them all and let all the thumbs and cache stuff get caught up before manually transferring some more. and that's how i got mine working. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Kraellin, we've fixed the import issue for the case of lots of filters. FF 2 now starts normally even in the case of 10K+ filters. But probably you will have to wait for a few minutes before FF initalizes itself for the first time
![]() Please, download a new version of FF from the Download section. Space... it seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you. |

Any news on this? I'd really like to import my complete filter library from v1.018.

Thanks, ZZ. Will do!
![]() EDIT: The installer didn't ask about importing filters & settings this time, but manual import worked perfectly. Thanks! ![]() --- Crapadilla says: "Damn you, stupid redundant feature requests!" ;) |
