So I updated FF to the latest "silent update" and now I get an error "Incorrect connection detected: a slave component of a loop is connected to the initial input."
I'm pretty sure the filter itself worked previously just fine. And now the filter doesn't work. Or am I doing something wrong? Was this intended behavior? ![]() As usual: I run FF on Mac OSX 10.8.4 Let me know if more information is needed! Rainbow.ffxml |

Hello, I have tried your rainbow filter here above and I do not get any error message, perhaps as it happens sometimes, this only happens with Mac version as I have Windows 7 64 bit.
To try it also I have opened it in filter editor to see if there was any error message and nothing happened I am using the May 23 2013 version FF 4.004.28472.34434 and if I choose to check if there any new updates it tells me that there are no new updates, so I do not know what update you have or what version you are using. |

In a timely fashion SpaceRay confirms! The latest update broke the filter.
![]() Note: go and manually download FF and try the filter again. ![]() Bonus points: please don't use the filter until it's in the library. |

Sorry if I tried to help FF team to test this bug and that it does not hapen to me
It seems that there is no new update for the windows version, perhaps there is only a new version only for Mac.
I have done it and I downloaded the latest version and I still do not get any error message. So as said, it may be only happening in Mac.
Do not worry, I will not be using it, just wanted to see if it did happen to me or not |

I'm just waiting for somebody official to discuss about it really.
![]() I think the last silent update fixes other minor and irritating bugs. But I don't know what's been fixed just yet. |

Well, Skybase, weren't it you who reported this very issue with a Scale inside a loop? We've fixed the issue: now it's impossible to create a chain leading to a crash.

No no, this is a completely different issue. I think that scale problem's pretty much gone, thanks!
![]() Now it seems like errm.. uhhh something different is happening. So I got a position component basically flowing into the init of the accumulated component. The warning says "Incorrect connection detected: a slave component of a loop is connected to the initial input." Which I'm kinda seeing it as intended behavior. Then again, the filter functioned perfectly fine in previous versions (before this update), it never gave me this specific warning. So the question here is: Did this update fix something that basically changes the way I should hook components up? (This component chain previously worked fine, no errors occurred.) Or is this actually a problem with the program? Thanks so much! Edit: Better picture. Better explanation. Sorry for the fuss, really. ![]() |

Yes
![]() You don't need to connect a slave component (Position in your case) to the Accumulated's subtree because it is only sampled before the loop cycle starts (at the zeroth iteration). Moreover, connecting a slave component to Accumulated may sometimes cause errors as shown in the other thread. That's why we forbade all such connections. (I hope I understand all this stuff correctly myself ![]() |

Oooh that links the problems together.
Makes sense. I figured I don't need that additional connection after all but I basically couldn't tell if it were a problem based on previous experiences. Cool. Thanks for the clarification ![]() |

If this is the right way, I wonder why there is NO error message on the windows version? Or is it as Skybase that FF Inc. have just updated the Mac version with this and the windows have not yet been updated. As you can see in the screenshot below I do not get any error in the accumulated component. ![]() |
