I am a bit late but i have started beta testing FF4 and it seems really good. Here is everything so far and i will post other bugs as i find them.

---------------------------------------
Bugs / Crashes -
---------------------------------------

When i installed V4 and run it from the default shortcut the program starts (visible in task manager) but is never visible. I am guessing it is trying to render or something also as it's CPU was 50% always, after a long time (i waited hoping it would load) it closed.

I then found out that if i go to the bin folder and run Filter Forge x86.exe directly it works fine. So something seems broken with the installers shortcut setup.

---

Following these steps will crash FF4 -

1) Load a filter with older components such as "Decorative Tiles" then go into the Filter Editor

2) Group a node which uses older Color controls (in this case Perlin Noise with Color 1 and Color 2)

3) Drag in a new Color control from the Components dialog

4) Use the shortcuts Ctrl+C then Ctrl+V and the program will crash

Suggestion -

In the Filter Editor the programs Minimize icon is disabled, it would be nice if it was click-able as i always have to either save the filter then re-load it later or force it to minimize using the "Show the Desktop" option from the Taskbar.

I just noticed a bug with the commandline, when you use the .png filetype as a output it will render jpg format but renamed as .png instead so basically it's not saving the correct image format.

Here is a example of the code which will do this -

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<Tasks>

<Task>
<Image value="" width="100" height="100" />
<Selection value="" />
<Result path="C:\Documents and Settings\User\Desktop\Output\000.png" />
<Filter value="C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Filter Forge 4\My Filters\Filter.ffxml" />
<Preset value="0" />
</Task>

</Tasks>

Seems for the color control crash i posted above it might be the same thing as ThreeDee reported -

http://www.filterforge.com/forum/read...&TID=10486

If that is the case, sorry i had not read that thread as i posted. The method i use to make it crash seems different though so it could be another bug possibly but it sounds very similar.

Yes, copying and pasting color controls has already been reported.

As for your command-line task, everything works as expected. The format should be specified by the format="PNG" attribute of the Result tag, not by the file name.

I found a old .ffxml project (from V2 i think) and double clicked it. With the FF4 beta also installed alongside FF3, FF4 will load in task manager but never appears on screen.

So basically there is a bug in that you can't double click to load older files with both versions installed at the same time. The workaround is to find the FF3 user filters folder and manually add them.

Cannot reproduce: I have all versions since FF1 installed, and double-clicking an ffxml file opens the filter in FF4. Please provide more detail and post the filter in question.

FF filters will open with the last version of FF that was installed on the computer...So what also works is before double clicking on that filter open the version of FF first that you want to use the filter in.....
Stupid things happen to computers for stupid reasons at stupid times!
