Thanks! Makes me want to weld something. smile:D

Here's the evolution of this, making it into an image filter. Works best with highly graphic stuff. Still having trouble controlling the bolts, though.

The source for this is just a black and white pirate flag.

I'll post some more over at my junkyard thread, so as not to clog this one up.

Hey meyendlesss, nice textures (1st to 4th), don't you want to share a tutorial step by step or post their files as a learning way? ;0)

Thanks, Lucato.
All this stuff is still 'in progress' as I experiment with v2.
The textures are just bombers with some stuff plugged into them.
No actual noise components were used in any of them.
I'll share some techniques and filter guts later on.

Thanks, guys.
I'm thinking of starting my own thread over in the offtopic area.
Now that I'm getting back into things and have the v2 beta to play with I want to start showing more of my work.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by grass shape, CorvusCroax.
The grass is just some elipse components plugged into a bomber.
If you mean the shape of the lifesaver it's just image->threshold->median.

Here's another filter that has very similar guts to the grass/fur one, but gives a very different effect... this one went on to become the liquid I posted above.

Been a few days without much posted.
Very nice metal effect above by CorvusCroax.

The grass is cool, and probably much faster than mine. Have you tried making the blades point a single general direction? The middle one reminds me of M&M's, and the liquid is great with its refraction and distortion. smile:)

And of course, Corvus's "metalizer" is awesome. smile8)

Here's my seven and a half cents for today. It took several different attempts, but I'm starting to get the hang of rock textures using the bomber.

The rotation is controllable.
I'm tweaking the look of the grass, and the filter also does fur/hair/carpeting/ect...

I like the look of your grass, Indigo.
That rock texture is cool too.

Here's some nails...
Nail shape is done right in the filter and is variable.
I have a version that uses selection, but I like using the lifesaver when I'm working on an effect.

I'd make the shadows more diffuse, it's a little distracting, but lookin' good!
Roses are #FF0000
Violets are #0000FF
All my base are belong to you.

Just a question: ever tried rendering the same thing on super high resolution picts?

Hey Uber really cool! Congratulations!
I didn't have time lately to use FF and to learn how to use this new bomber component and the file will be a good way to learn it. Thanks a lot for sharing it!

Thanks Kraellin.
I'm just happy I found a use for my 'numbers' filter.
They both still need some work, and the speedometer/guage has already gone in a few different directions.
I'll post some more a bit later as things progress.

Thanks, Uber!

First impression is that this method is more accurate than any of the three I've concocted. Which will be most wonderfully useful in developing those "path patterns"...

Love the vibrant paintings, Uber. I haven't been able to come up with those swirls yet; its not possible with bomber rotation. I'll have to cheat and check out your version. smile;)

And nice on those screws and the odometer thingy, Meyendlesss. smile:)

Personally, I just can't get enough of the "painterly" possibilities of the new bomber component. Result of an experiment with particle blend modes and HDR:

I've figured out a way to make all particles start from the same spot.

Tricky part was maintaining ability to modify color and rotation. smile:D

Cool stuff uber - can you explain the logic behind the offset inputs? you blend in gray slightly, but I just don't get it.. is it some sort of bug exploit or whats going on here?
