Thanks Skybase, although I'm afraid that my solution is a bit more profane than you might assume. smile:) The characters are not procedurally generated, but simply present at the top left corner of the image. (You can see some artifacts there.)

I _really_ hope there will be a convenient way to open/assign images as filter parameters...

Cool stuff guys. smile:) Gotta love the bomber component. Things still render slow, but making the filter is so fast and easy! How about some grass? (no, not the drug)

Thanks. smile:) I just realized the density was at 4, not 5. Here's with 5 and a few other soup-ups (small image due to annoying rendering times):

Wow, that grass looks much better! Maybe add some fake ambient occlusion near the bottom of each blade, to give some depth.

But yeah, Bombers have very variable render times. Especially meta-bombers smile:devil:

All the new features inspired you to plug Cells into a high pass and tweak that a little?

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, piece of cake, but now I'm having a hard time with two artifacts:

- "Siamese" cells, which are almost separated but not quite.
- Sharp corners breaking up the nice round shapes of the pebbles.

I thought I'd give it a shot with Betis' answer.
Hmmm not quite the answer, but it has the same feel.

Indigo: I totally like the first grass better than the second. If you can also generate a normal and gloss map to go with that, it'd be awesome!

... which leads to the question: what if we could have multiple channels through filters, where the different channels got the same process through the filter. We could "bomb" a diffuse map, a bump map and a gloss map at the same time, getting three maps out ...

This is what I got so far:

Not nearly as tightly packed as Uberzev's, but I can't be bothered anymore. smile:)
Having said that, I'm really eager to know the solution.

Uh.. like this? You drive a tone curve with the 'solid' version of the cells, to cut out the little ones?

I am also eager to know the answer to this one.

Bombers really can be used to add that little extra to textures. My new log wall.
And Skybase, really nice, almost can feel the heat (or my screen is overloading)

Skybase, that lava looks great! Totte, you might want to make the scratches less regular -- try mapping the Chance parameters with something like a smooth low-frequency Perlin Noise.

Vlad, yeah, good idea. I've usually have used the Chance param mapped to something like this, or the invert, to make multi-tile textures very simple.

Actually I tried putting some background for this. I'm guessing it has to be very faint.

Speaking of my old stuff, I began planning to convert some of the filters I had to FF2 material. I just thought some of my old filters can use something HDR. I really enjoy how bright things look really REALLY like bright things.
