It'll likely be cheaper to buy FF1 and upgrade to FF2 during this short time while V2 is in beta, so I'd recommend making the jump now.

Carl, I can't put my finger on it, but your frayed cloth also looks almost like either some kind of palm tree bark, or something in that realm. It's bothering me, I can't figure it out. smile:D I love the texture!

Thanks Carl.
I've got a very similar effect in V1, but wanted to redo it using some bombers.
The AO makes it look a little nicer as well.

Here's another with different lighting...

Looks good so far Carl. smile:) It does look like that type of wrapping...
Reminds me of an old joke....Modified a bit but....
A mummy and an old piece of tied rope goes into a bar....The bar-tender points to the rope and yells "Get that mummy out of here!" The rope replies..."Mummy? I'm afraid not.....

i like that, meye. it's like the whole life preserver is of old paint, cracked and weathered. i sure hope you guys are publishing some of this stuff when the time comes smile:)

Grass with AO quality High. I was curious and It took quite a while to render on high lol. I don't recommend doing it even with a good machine. The rotation is meant to make it look mowed but I forgot to make the blades look cut. smile:blush:

Nice filters everyone, these are all really great smile:D

meyendlesss, it looks like it would work well for leather, dry mud or stone. smile:)

Ben, that grass texture looks and it great would work for fur/hair textures also maybe with some color adjustments.

Also, I did this a while ago, but I forgot to post. I simplified this greatly and doubled the speed with the exact same results. Blurring after the offset/assemble was the major performance booster for some reason. If you move the blur to right before the offsets you'll get a 30% render time decrease. Ideally it would be the same.

Thanks James!

I did that to break seamlessness. There's nothing special going on with the filter though so I don't know why I cared. I was a little drunk when I posted it last night smile:beer:

That remains to be seen.
As of now, for many reasons, I don't have very many filters in the library, and what I do have up is not my best work. I still haven't gotten my fifth HU... If I'm not able to get that I may not be using v2 for a while. I'm enjoying it while I can though. V2 is great... feels like it's v1 beta time all over again.

You'd probably have 10 EP's if you could submit your V2 filters. Another wow for the fur and carpet pics. smile8)

The grass is nice. I like the few little blades that refuse to follow the other ones.

I've been improving my own grass as well. It's not a surface filter, and while it still isn't that fast, I don't have to worry about those annoying AO render times. I hope I'm not appearing like I'm competing with you or anything by posting another grass pic. Think of it as "inspiration". smile;)

I actually hope they become a little stricter on the submission guidelines, or at least adhere more strongly to what they have already. I do not enjoy seeing tons of recent filters that, even when considering amateurism, are bad. smile:(

Very cool Indigo, it looks like grass you'd see in Zelda. I'm sure it's a lot faster to render than mine too.

Hehehe. Yes, mine is a lot faster. I've tried adding rocks and flowers in the past like yours, but they weren't that great. I have been improving the actual grass again, so for all those people like me whose computer needs a faster filter, this is what V5.1 looks like:

Anyway, here's another filter I'm really proud of. I tried replicating frost on a window, and it turned into this:

Awesome, have you tried doing a high pass to simulate AO? That might help make the grass layers pop. And you're right, the grass does look kind of like seaweed hehe. I think it's because of the vertical stripes. They seem slightly translucent.

The Ice turned out looking really cool, I like that a lot. smile:)

Here's one I did using a very simple weave technique involving bombers.

That's cool. I wonder what it looks like zoomed-out, or maybe with double the strands.

Coincidentally, I also stumbled upon my own weave-like pattern. It actually involves simulating the cell noise with the bomber, except with the chaos very low. Works awesomely with the variation slider.

we've seen the weave thing before, though i like the addition of the colors and such. and, i also notice it has a wider gap spread than the ones i remember from before, so that's a plus. and that wicker/rattan weave is excellent, indigo!

yes, it's completely generated in FF. i have an earlier version with some of the flowers but not the leaves. it's a very slow filter, but extraordinary in quality. you can also see some ground in the version i have. quite impressive!
