Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to respond, sorry I haven't been round here in a while. Life gets busy sometimes. I have been trying to keep bringing this up with Xara.
here is something I've been playing with (using the 32bit plugin) I brought an extruded object in from Xara using an external image component and by using that image as a source for alpha, offset, and even shading (still needs tweaking) I've come up with a pretty realistic result. The edges are distorted based on the height of the texture.
Note: the dirt layer was added in Designer Pro after applying the extrusion
