We released the first beta of Filter Forge 6:
https://www.filterforge.com/download/beta6/index.html

Finally, this is something you all have been waiting for: full 64-bit support, with the OSX version rewritten in Cocoa. The old classic 1.5 GB restriction is gone, now the sky is the limit smile:)

As always, the beta version is a fully-functional 30-day trial. We're still setting up the beta key generator — please hold your "Where is my beta key" complaints for a few days. UPDATE: beta keys are now being sent automatically if you provide a purchased FF5 license. If you only have a free HU license you will get rejected. Sorry for that! We're fixing the issue, for now please contact the support team directly.

I didn't expect a new version so fast. smile:D smile:D smile:D
Good!

It is also good that it added support for 64-bit without abandoning 32-bit. smile;)

Thnaks for making it, this is a very good news

i agree that I did not expect it either, I thought that it would be around november-december 2016 or for next year for the first beta

Although this does not mean that the final version will come out soon, as it may take still many months until final release.

Wanted to chime in again and see if there's a way for the 64bit client to pre-allocate my ram more aggressively. I have a dual CPU board with 64GB total ram and have it set to allow 90% usage. I'm able to watch it slowly crawl up so far to 7GB so that's nice, but it seems as though it may be spending unnecessary time allocating more ram when it's avoidable. Just thought it might be a good time for a pre-allocation configuration option similar to the current Ram allocation configuration options. If it helps anything to do that smile:)

Sadly the filter I'm using along with a 5k x 5k image to generate is still very slow. Even running on all 32 cores. All the more considering the ideal target image size is more like 12k x 16k

Which brings me to my next point. A Beta Stage 2 Request of sorts.

I'd like to see a new (category/tool/node) set for debugging other nodes, node groups, and entire filters one day. I feel like having this to help optimize our node graphs along with 64bit will supercharge everything way more than 64bit alone. I think the best start for this would be a simple set of timer/stopwatch nodes so that we can at least narrow in on the slow spots. I would imagine if you already don't have in-house node debugging tools/nodes this would become quite helpful for you as well. With 64bit fully unleashing FF finally it seems like the best time for a set of tools to aid us in making the craziest, biggest, most over the top filters in Filter Forge history smile:)

Anyway, just some thoughts smile:)

I'm using FF beta 6 trying to access filter library to download
ff filter named "Belgium Ripple", but I get this message.

"Access to the server is disabled in this filter forge version"

Also can't locate option to import filters fr om previous versions.
Is this option available somewh ere in the menu?

I only saw the import option once during install and unfortunately chose to import filters from FFV5 rather than FFV3.
I can't find import option again anywhere. I trying reinstalling ff6 and the import option is not showing up during install.

I have that Belgium Ripple filter in FFV3.
Any ideas on how to get Belgium Ripple filter into FF6Beta 64bit?

This version does not allow server access. Save the filter to My Filters by going into the FF V3 editor and saving it. Then move the file manually from the FF V3 My Filters folder to the My Filters folder for FF 6 beta. You will have to look up file locations...

Thanks Rick
I had tried that before I posted. But could not get filter to show up in FF6.
Then I realized my error. I had FF6 open when I moved the filter and failed close FF6 after I moved the filter. As with any app I needed to refresh the filter viewing area.
So then I closed and reopened FF6 and the filter became visible.
Thanks
For the reply

But I don't have and older version to get the filters from, since I started on version 4 and it never, ever, even opened on my mac! Is there anyway I can get filters to Beta 6, that is the only one that opens on my machine?

Please can someone help me? I'm almost desperate, I have purchased this thing over 2 years ago and it never worked. smile:evil:

thanks

i have answered you on the other thread, and he only way I think is possible is that you buy the Filter library backup that has all he filters and you may need the librarian to preview them, as I have seen that the filters themselves does not have any name or reference so you you would not know which one is thhe one you may want

Well, is the only way unless you may have another way of getting the filters, from a friend or any other FF user, the cheaper way is with 29$ filter library backup
