I was curious what are the System Requirements for OS X?
I'm still rocking 10.5.8 and upgrading is not an option. Sadly software developers are continually phasing out support for 10.5.8, one upgrade at a time. Please tell me this not the case for FF5? Stretched 2 Fit! |

That's really old, what keeps you there? If older hardware, I suspect you can go to at least 10.6.8 (which is also really old). If software, you can run older OS X as VM on current systems.
We can't expect developers to be reaching and supporting that far back when OS X has changed so much since 10.6.8. Digital imaging blog & software discounts

If it's a PowerPC... that would be 10.5.8 max. But I did not know if a PowerPC could run FF...

Running an OS that old not only cuts one off from most modern software, but also there are no security updates or enhancements which is also a problem.
It's a shame I know because old hardware still works, but in this computer race, there is only one gear (Forward). Digital imaging blog & software discounts

@Rick Duim - No it's not PPC I have intel, which runs FF4 just fine.
@plugsnpixels - Welcome to my world. Broke Bake Busted Style! For me updating would not just mean a brand new system but the majority of my software would also require upgrades. So I must make do with what I have. What's this "We can't expect" that's great for those who are up to date sure they wouldn't expect that. However for those in my situation of course I still hope for support for my old dinosaur! Over time the list just increases of why I need to update! Security, Java, Safari, Software. So true that gear I know is forward, however you forgot to mention that gear also need to be lubed with cash that I just don't have. Perhaps some good up to date soul here could donate their old system to me next time they update. - wink wink ![]() Stretched 2 Fit! |

I hear ya, it's a great business model for Apple and others! Apple's been getting a bit better though, not cutting the legs off older systems every time they release an OS update (i.e., OS X El Capitan will run on anything that runs Yosemite, and Yosemite ran on anything that would run Mavericks, IIRC).
If you could get a better PC box than the Mac you have you could either use that or build a Hackintosh... Digital imaging blog & software discounts

Yes. Filter Forge 5 will still support OS X 10.5.
