Hi there
yesterday I bought Filter Forge 2 Professional and I need it in Photoshop. After installing I had the wonderful experience: "Photoshop Plug In does NOT work unter OS X Lion!" >> Wow great! That's exactely what I've bought FF2 for! Question 1: WHEN IS AN UPGRADE/FIX AVAILABLE? OS X LION IS NOT A SURPRISE! DEVELOPERS HAVE BEEN ACCESS TO BETAS FOR MONTHS!!! After that I tried the Standalone mode (just for fun because I dont need it at all). Worked so far I can tell... meanwhile I received a mail with a link to a zip file (I'm still not sure what exately in this zip is... I guess a bunch of filters???). I installed it exactely as described and now Final Forge doesn't even work in standalone-mode. Question 2: REALLY NO LION-ISSUE??? Now I'm in support-ping-pong with Mark Evdokimov (a phone call is not possible). He told me to rename or delete /Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 2/System/Library.xml and LibraryStructure.xml and try again. I work in the IT myself (one of my teams is a customer-center with helpdesk) and I have the bad feeling this will become a mai-by-mail-try-and-error-case until the customers (hey way uncool that's me) gives up, changes his computer or commits suicid. Anyway... I will do this later at home and post here if that did the trick. This shouldn't happen with a software for 300$. And I'm not the only having problems if I read the forum... Final Question: SHOULD I WORK WITH THE 3.0 BETA? Greetings from Switzerland John |

That's what the free trial version is for. That's what the system requirements page is for. |

yes you're right... but this is not a very customer-oriented attitude is it?
but I have to admit, the trick from Mark did it and at least it runs stand alone... It would be extremely useful, if you could tell us, when a patch for OS X lion will be released... I'm pretty sure in the next few days a lot of existing customers will run in the same troubles as I did... most probably... Final forge without photoshop-plugin is sooo useless for me ![]() so have a nice weekend everybody |

I use FF and Photoshop both a lot. I've never run it in plugin mode, I just don't see the point. Any image I want to use FF on I just save separately. All the plugin really does is to launch FF from inside PS, and allows you to use the "Selection" input component.

and that's reason enough to use it in plugin mode... seriously... I don't know how you're working with photoshop but to use a filter at a certain momentan during a process and not just at the end as a finishing-step makes it imho necessary to use it directly on a selection/layer whatsoever... and in FF3 I hope here will be smartfilter-support?

Point: Transparency. I want to save a filter's output with transparency intact. I can't get that to work no matter what in the Stand-alone mode. (Yes, I DID check the Transparency check box is the save dialog.) That is a reason to use Plug-in mode. |
