yesterday I needed to update my Filter Library (if I remember the name correct) in order to download some filters from the website. That went well and I could afterwards download the filters.
Today I wanted to v=create a new filter, but FF crashes all the time, while in the editor with the following message : Filter Forge <XFW::StateError> Missing filter item in the component settings panel. What does this mean, and how to solve the problem? If I would reinstall FF 9.0, would I loose any of my filters? Thanks for your help, Beat The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. This is a known issue to be fixed in the next program version. A workaround is to work in FIlter Editor without selecting multiple components at a time.
No, your filters are not affected by reintalling, but I always recommend to have a backup, just in case. |

The problem is more than multiple selections. I am getting the error constantly even when not selecting multiple items. I have groups in some FF10 code, wondering if this might be an issue as well. Anyway, it has crashed too many times even when I'm super careful, so development in FF10 is on hold till it is fixed.

Same here. The problems started when I updated my 9.x version to the latest version of FF 9. I hope that the issue will be solved in the FF 9 versions as well, not only in version 10. This seems a very serious issue that deserves immediate attention in my opinion. The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. Niels Bohr |

This is a very serious problem. It is impossible to work in the editor, which is an essential part of FF.

I believe it has been. Please re-download and reinstall the latest beta version from the beta page and check if it still fails for you. |

So this error is not going to be fixed in FF9.0 period? We basically HAVE to upgrade to FF10.0 to solve this problem?
Not very happy about that... |

FF; if you are saying that, after the crippling "update", that has now made this software unusable; and the only way to get it fixed, is to BUY the next version, is nothing short of blackmail.

That's what you are saying, not us.
What I was saying is that you need to wait for the next update to version 9. Actually we made a silent fix so you don't even need to wait for an update - just download and reinstall. |

I have tried last night, and again this morning to update through FF Update under Tools; there is NO update available. On the download demo page, it is says it is still the same 9.007 version. When I downloaded it, it says that it is version 9.7.5 (?) I have already lost all my favs because I "updated" once already. Should FF update through tools update?

The download says it's version 9.007 - same as I have installed. I installed it anyway after reading post above but it is exactly the same version with exactly the same problem. Your product is pointless without the editor.
Come on FilterForge, you are letting us down here. You need to put out a fix fast please. When will one be available please? |

Same here. I 'updated' but the problems persist.
And not only in the Editor, I also get crashes sometimes when loading an image. Please fix this ![]() The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. Niels Bohr |

David, which version are you on? I am on version 9.007. I have updated after I read GMM's post about the silent update. I cannot see on the website which is the current version for downloading. Unfortunately my version is still unworkable. David, you don't get frequent crashes while working in the editor? The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. Niels Bohr |

Which version of FF9 do you have? I believe the one on the right is the silent update.
I have never had this error occur in FF9 on my MacBook Pro. I only saw it in FF10 beta after one of the updates. I tested a little now in the FF9 editor with the "old" version (image on the left). I will try the silent update and report back if I find any issues. UPDATE: I was able to reproduce the error with the version on the right (the silent update? Oct 20, 2020). Next post I will include a filter with instructions to reproduce the error. ![]() Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

In FF9 with the Oct 20, 2020 update (listed above) do the following:
Edit Decorative Tiles (or any other filter): Multiple select 2 or more components. It may crash or if not... Move the multiple selection, then it will crash Also, when attempting to generate a bug report, this happens in my browser: ![]() Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

There is a way to return to the "old" 9.007 version. It does not have the multiple selection issue. On the Mac go here:
Macintosh HD:Users:yourname:Library:Application Support:Filter Forge 9:Updates You should be able to run the old 9.007 installer. Math meets art meets psychedelia. |

Rachel, thanks again for your input and help.
Still I think it should be FF itself that should be correcting the issue. Now Rachel does more to help than FF, which feels a bit odd. The Stone Age did not end because they ran out of stones. Niels Bohr |
