Latest FF version / OSX 10.11.6

FF crashes when I want to enter a name for a controller (Settings) in Editor mode. Everything seems to work fine until I want to edit a name. Crash.

When restarting FF, the same happens. When restarting the Mac, it works fine again for a little while and then the crashes begin again (with naming a controller).

I do get the attached message when starting FF. What to do?
I am hesitant to reinstall FF as I don't know if my own Filters will disappear with reinstalling. I have made a backUp of the filters.

Would trashing the Preferences help?

Reinstalling won't help - you should clear the Recent Filters list first. If the issue persists, reset the preferences and/or remove the broken ffxml file instead.

Navigate to /Users/Your_User_Name/Library/Application Support/Filter Forge 8/.
Recent Filters are stored in Recent.xml, preferences are stored in Preferences.xml, user-made filters are in the My Filters folder.
