Hi

I've downloaded the trial version of Filer Forge 4. I'm using a Mac with OS X Yosemite. I got a 2.7ghx i7 and 16GB memory.

I'm not sure if my setup is right. FF4 did work as a stand alone and I was able to sample a few different filers and it was all pretty quick., didn't apply anything though.

I then tried to activate FF4 in Photoshop CS6, I couldn't get it to work as a plugin initially. Clicking the universal plugin action added FF4 to the Filter menu but when you clicked it nothing happened.

So I deleted the plugin from the >Plugins>Filters folder and in the PS preferences choose to load the plugin by selecting the FF4 folder in my applications window and that seemed to work. when I clicked to open FF4 in the filter menu it opened a new window as the FF4 application - not what I was expecting and I'm thinking I did something wrong. I was able to sample different filters though and decided to apply. That was about 5 - 10 minutes ago and the filter progress bar is only a quarter of the way done!

I'm sure I have done something wrong with the setup. I did try looking for guides but couldn't see anything.

I will be buying, it's what I'm looking for, Would just really appreciate some insight at to what the set up should be and what the expected rendering time would be.

Also how do I get it so that I don't have to be online to use the filters?

Thanks in advance

This is intended behavior.

Rendering time depends on the filter and the image resolution. To get an idea of a faster filter, please try rendering this one:

This is not a bug and is how FF works and is not like a usual and normal 2D software that you may know

The time it takes to render and how much you have to wait depends totally on 5 different things

- 1 - it depends very much on which filter you are using, as there are some filters that you get a result in seconds, and the slowest can take more than 30 minutes or more

- 2 - another that will rise much the render time for ALL of the filter is how high is the output resolution you have configured, is not the same to render a 1000x1000 (or rectangular) than a 5000x5000

- 3 - how powerful and fast your computer is and if you have multicore cpu or not, as all the process is very cpu intensive is very important to have a good and fast cpu, it does not matter what graphic card you have and how much ram you have, because FF does not use the GPU to render and can only use 1.5 MB of RAM

- 4 - the selected option of FF, as the only one that is the fastest one is he professional version that allows to use all the cores you may have in your CPU

- 5 - The configuration and preference setting you may have in the FF, as these are also important, I mean that if you have the profesional version and you have a multicore cpu, you must activate the checkbox of multicore, and also the RAM percentage dedicated to FF

for more information see this thread

What would really make FF faster is that it could be able to render the images using the OpenCL or be GPU Aaccelerated so it could also the Graphic card to remder and not only the CPU, but regrettably this will not happen in FF 5.0

Sorry I confused the RAM data is not 1.5 MB , the correct one is 1.5 GB
