Filter Forge Quit Unexpectedly

Today I upgraded to 2.0 Standard . . . paid my $50 and my first download worked fine. Now I can't open Filter Forge at all. I keep getting the message "Filter Forge Quit Unexpectedly" and a report to Apple button with all kinds of lines of code. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4. It's frustrating to say the least. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Do you use Filter Forge as a plugin or in the standalone mode?

Obviously you should click there -- where the message tells you to

It is possible that you've downloaded a filter that causes Filter Forge to quit.
Please go to Users > Your_User_Name > Library > Application Support > Filter Forge 2 > System and rename the Library folder to something different (say, Library1). After that try to start Filter Forge again.

Cacie, what finally worked for me to was to strip every bit of FF off my computer and start over. I had to do this 2 or 3 times, but it finally did work. That library name change didn't do anything for me either.

FF might remember your license code; it did for me. All the filters already downloaded were lost however. It took me a while to re-download them. You might want to make sure it works before you do re-do too many.

Or maybe there's a way to save them separately on your hard drive; I didn't try that because I was just desperate!

Thanks, Totte! I didn't realize they went by numerical names. Now I see that if I go thru Locate via Filter Forge, it does take me to the file.

I sure hope the advice above is good. I trashed all of my FilterForge files and am now waiting to hear back from them as to the license key I need to redownload. Does anyone know why there are such problems with this software. I love it, but it's been a headache since day 1. How is their customer service?

I did install the free one but that was ages ago. I just upgraded to 2.0. Hopefully it can be straightened out. I appreciate your response.

mine is not a mac problem, but pc:
i've submitted a report about it several times, but got no answer.
FF 2 pro unexpectedly quits with error code 0x00000005 after either trying to open or trying to save a file. it happens often enough, so that i can never be sure, whether saving will work or not.

any of you experienced anything similar? do you have a solution for it?

the thing is, this only happens occasionally, but relatively often. the same file can work once and make FF 2 quit the next time.
FF 1 worked without problems.

Ilmeni, I strongly discourage from discussing issues with the Windows version in the Mac-related thread. If you contact our support team or at least post in the appropriate forum you'll increase your chances to get a reply.

(But Totte must be right: you are low on disk space on C:)

No, I just reinstalled *everything*. which is very annoying as I had started to save a lot of useful presets and my first three filters etc. ALL GONE. I did a backup but can you restore it?
