Yes you heard correct, the newest bomb in the U.S. arsenal is 10 times as powerful as the one it replaced. No its not nuclear and its already mass produced. The best part is they named the bomb not some code number, its actual name is "Plan B." Thoughts? We walk through life building our castles but far to many cease to build the foundations.

I guess it just depends on how you feel about preemptive first strikes vs. Iran ever having nuclear weapons. Seems to me to be a compromise solution to using nuclear weapons ourselves if it comes to that choice. But at the same time, being non-nuclear, it makes the choice to use them easier.

My thoughts exactly. However its always hard for the "Man" to say "Do it." But in terms of statistics and logic I cannot argue with loss of civilian life. Unfortunately I was distrubred with myself after 9-11 when I remembered telling someone that as a pose to the amount that were killed in many attacks theres no reason for us to be scared. I have a very hard time invisioning those people as per say "real people." I always just see them as a small of the larger number =S. Im not sick I'm just being honest. The problem with nuclear weapons is that they're a game changer. Lots of countries have developed and deployed them but no one has used them since 1945 except for saber rattling purposes. Now we are facing the possibility of unstable or fanatical possession of these weapons. Al Quada and/or the Taliban would love to take over Pakistan. The result is we must stand and fight against that possibility instead of disengaging from that part of the world. There is no reason to believe that Iran would not detonate nuclear devices in Israel if they attain the capability or supply devices to terrorists. Likewise, there is no reason to believe that North Korea would not sell nuclear devices to anyone with the price of admission.
So it may come down to the most logical thing for the United States to do in its own national security interests to preemptively eliminate these possibilities. Plan B moves us a step closer to doing that without resorting to game changing nuclear attacks in the name of preventing them.

Well said, I assume you read the article, I got it from thehelper.net but I was really interested in the fact that they are putting something like $50.4million into arming every bomber with this weapon, to me that sounds like we can effectivley eliminate entire cities just like in the past. While taking civilain lives is effective at ending wars, its not well... its not very nice. So I think the intent of these weapons is mostly for destroying bunkers, however I have the feeling that when the crap hits the fan, were going to see some urban uses of the weapon. WASHINGTON (Oct. 13) - The Pentagon is speeding up delivery of a colossal bomb designed to destroy hidden weapons bunkers buried underground and shielded by 10,000 pounds of reinforced concrete.
Calling the bomb "Plan B" for dealing with Iran, which recently revealed a long-suspected nuclear site deep inside a mountain near the holy city of Qom.
The 15-ton behemoth — called the "massive ordnance penetrator," or MOP — will be the largest non-nuclear bomb in the U.S. arsenal and will carry 5,300 pounds of explosives. The bomb is about 10 times more powerful than the weapon it is designed to replace.
The Pentagon has awarded a nearly $52 million contract to speed up placement of the bomb aboard the B-2 Stealth bomber, and officials say the bomb could be fielded as soon as next summer. |
And reading it again teh "Plan B" is obviously a nickname, its actually a "MOP." Regardless im calling it the Plan B Bomb. We walk through life building our castles but far to many cease to build the foundations.

Plan B is not insane, Plan A was. I would like to think this is a weapon with instant consequences, as a pose to the previous ones that had consequences still going on. We walk through life building our castles but far to many cease to build the foundations.
