Where did Foxee and Mouse go? Not that this is all the good people, and not to say I don't like all the new members; just wondering. I just feel we need them to curb to some degree all of our sarcasim and cheek smile:D

I don't know Craig she was pissed off with the forum/reward [ as she told one of the regulars from the forum in an email ] and she left after she got her 8 and she still was regularly checking the forum for a while after her last post, even though we suggested she even just drop a smiley in a post - so more optimisticly I think it was choice smile;)

It sure has been quiet here lately - no Steve, rare Ahimsa, and even you Craig have been quiet with no new post in your thread smile:(

Passed away!?! smile:(

Wow... I'm really sorry for the long silence, guys. Glad to see I'm still semi-remembered fondly smile:)

Yep, Kralin and Carl are both 'partically' right... I have been suffering pretty much constantly from a nerve problem... no, I am not dead yet smile;) ... yep, I left for 2 reasons, because of my health issues and because the way things were changing here with some of the complaining and accusing and bickering. That didn't help my nerve problem either. Sorry for the long silence, I got side tracked with doing Packages at Renderosity's Free Stuff... better known there as Craftmans using FF excusively (see link below if you're really interested), and I needed a break-away to help myself heal some (long time coming) smile:D

Oh, and I've been spending the last several months playing W.o.W. (World of Warcraft) and just started playing Two Worlds as of a few days ago.

So now that I've come out of my shadowy fox den for a bit... Hi everyone! Please don't be mad at me or I'll start smile:cry:

Special "HI" to Redcap for asking about me,and to Vlad, Bella, Crappie, Ahimsa, Kralin, StevieJ, Carl, Constantin and all the rest. I've missed you all too! smile8)

Hi Beliria.
Thanks for the reply. Nope, you don't know me... yet smile;)
Nice to meet you, and thanks for the compliment on my filters.

Well, well, well... Kraelin (sorry for the misspell before smile:p)
Looks like you are the ONLY one happy to see me again... hehehe.

Thank you. I really do appreciate it. I know you were more aware of what was going on with my health issues than anyone else, so I can understand your coming to the conclusion you did. Thankfully that isn't the case though! It's been a very long hard walk through many unsure times for me but seems I'm going to survive smile:D

Yep, Two Worlds is another RPG game I discovered just a few days ago, has fantastic graphics... and freedom of movement throughout. You can play Single Player and Multi-player with this (for FREE). Strange thing is, Single Player forces us 'girls' to play a male character, where-as in the Multi-player version we can chose to play a girl... though sort of awkwardly in heavy plated armor smile:)

My login there is Phoxxee if you ever get the game and try it out?
No monthly fee like W.o.W. did. Actually, it was Steve's suggestion to try out W.o.W when we were all talking about gaming together that made me go check it out... and I got hooked on it. Though W.o.W. is hugely exciting (at first)there were just too many issues that made it not-fun for me. Last weekend I discovered this Two Words and had it picked up for me and installed. You enter a Lobby (town) where you can gear up and get some training and then start the several campaigns that reveal the entire world map. You can start private games with friends with a password or just jump into an open game that may be going, or make a private one for soloing in, which I've been doing .It also has 2 expansions which I have yet to get.

Forgive me, everyone else as well... it was not my intent to 'disappear' this long. RL took over and then my entire computer system died and sadly took (literally) everything with it, including any personal incoming emails smile:(
But that was a blessing, I now have a great New setup just for gaming and (viewing) graphics and media smile:D

Well, enough said on that. Glad you are happy to see me back. I will try to drop in now and then, typing still is a difficult and painful thing for me though. Moving the mouse isn't the same as using all your fingers at once... hehehe.

the others will show up in a bit, foxxee. we're not quite here and communicative as we were a while back when you were here. persidio hardly shows at all now and a couple others have dropped off, too. but steve and carl shld be along pretty soon smile:)

yes, i came to the conclusion because you simply disappeared without a word. so, that pretty much amounts to dying as far as i can tell smile:) glad you didnt smile:) smile:)

i'll have to look at Two Worlds a bit closer. only had a chance to quickly scan their site. last decent rpg's i played were Asheron's Call, multiplayer only, an online one and Morrowind, single player only and no online play. so, i'm kinda in the mood for a good one. but i'd prefer to stay away from the online pay-fors like WoW. i take it you have to buy the boxed version and expansion packs, so, i may have to make a run to town this weekend smile:)

very good to have you back smile:)

Beliria, I have no idea why anyone now a days would make an rpg game today and not offer a choice of male/female characters. I would have loved to have tried Witcher but when I found out you could only play a male version I never bothered to look into it any further. They loose a whole group of other players by doing that. I've been playing rpgs since forever, and when UO came out they had male/female choices way back then. As for WoW, it was gifted to me so I didn't turn it down smile;)
If you are willing to pay 14.95 a month then I think you'd love it. You can have all sorts of exotic creatures other than just a horse to ride... they even flying mounts now! Freedom to explore if you can find a way to get there is something I really enjoy in a game. I'm big on exploration... especially for treasure, hehe. I made quite a good living in WoW that way by selling at the auction houses where other players can sell their goods or finds as well.

Craig, Two Worlds is as easy and beautiful (if not more so) to play in as was Oblivion, the sequel to Morrowind. 2W also has horses, arenas, races, but I'm the one who likes to pack my saddle bags and head up into the mountains or down into some unexplored sunken temple smile:D I think you'd like it real well. The single player I have going has the whole world section to explore as you like, but the multi has the map sort of partitioned into large areas probably for less online lag. I think upwards of 50 are allowed in any one game that someone has going there. As for WoW, it's just one huge world, hundreds of players all running around all the time, so that got kind of competitive when quests needed to be done and several groups are trying or impatiently waiting for the other guy to hurry up.

Anyway, I don't think you really have to have the expansions, I don't (not yet anyway) but when you can it will add more things to do and explore and lots more treasures to and goodies to be had smile:D It would be fun to have a few others I already know there too, I just couldn't handle the mass of people in WoW...and the graphics are nothing compared to 2W, where WoW looked like something from a Disney cartoon, 2W look photo realistic!

Hi Carl!
Thanks for the welcome back, though I'm not back to actually start making filters again (not yet) I'm glad to be able to come in and say "hi" to all of you guys again smile;)

After some much needed attention from my physical therapists, and having gotten into my addiction to role-playing games again I haven't actually thought of doing much of anything else. It was actually a very nice letter from a FF user who got me interested in peeking back in here a few days ago. That's when I saw RedCap's post. Seeing that I had died made me cry smile:cry: so I had to let you guys know otherwise smile:D

I have been in awe of some of the new talent that came along, such as ThreeDee, Genie, Sphinx, XYZpoint, KGtheway2B and Northernshadow. What great and inspiring additions to the FF family smile:)

I'm sorry I missed out on the new talent that has been ooming in, and never got to meet ScaryKitty who came back after I left... great contributions... love the 'artsy' effects! Though I haven't seen what's been going on lately I surely will get to checking them out when I can. And great job on your revamp of your Grunge Posterizer, Carl. I used that quite a bit for my Craftmans Kits at Renderosity.

Glad to hear you got the demo, Craig... that's what I was playing a week ago until I just had to have it. Not only is it a great replacement (and monthly money saver) from WoW, but it actually makes me feel I am able to get back out and hike and ride and swim in a pretty amazing virtual game world. The environment and sounds are really fantastic for someone like myself who use be a very outdoorsy and active person before my disability took over.

Oh, I put up some screen-shots of my character in the online world. Right now I just make myself a private game room and enjoy the peace and quiet from all the grievers and spammers who seem to be ruining other crowded online games, but it would be fun to have a few friends there too to explore the world with smile;)

ok, i've learned a few of the mechanics, how to sword fight, shoot a bow, cast some minor magic and find herbs, sell/buy things, and chew bubblegum and walk at the same time smile:) it's actually pretty intuitive, though i had to stop a few times to look things up in the keyboard settings. but it's not all that different from morrowind or never winter nights. pretty close, actually. i do like the jump command. that's handy.

but, how do you aim magic missles? just hold the right mouse down for distance and then just sort of guess on the aiming? that part i havent gotten yet, so i'm mostly using standard weapons, sword, staff, bow.

also, i have a staff that says it has magic fire or something. how is that activated? is it automatic when i hit something, random when i hit something or do i need to do something to invoke that part of it?

cant play multi with the demo smile:( i was going to try to tag up with you a bit, foxxee, but i'll have to get the full version before i can do that.

i also had to trim down the video settings quite a bit; my pc was lagging out on the default settings it gave me.

oh, and this thing uses hdri! that's pretty cool. but i had to turn it off due to a lagging system.

so, to start and get used to things, i've not really done any of the quest stuff yet. i'm just out hunting wolves, boars and the occasional grom. cute stuff smile:)

i can see why you like it, foxxee. the landscape/terrain rendering is pretty darn good. very fluid and you do get the feeling of almost being in real terrain. i cant even imagine what a quad core rig with a great graphics card would be seeing if i'm seeing what i'm seeing with the graphics capabilities cut way down.

anyways, it's kinda fun so far and i may have to go out and get the full version, along with a new vid card, motherboard, sound card, dvd... hehe, only kidding on the hardware smile:)

This was an issue with me too while playing the demo. What happens is, while you have your weapon in the ready state, not on your back, you will get a little crosshair icon in a circle show up on any potential targets, as well as their name tag showing up at the upper center of the screen. They can come and go quickly, so if you think you saw something like that while walking around, stop and look around yourself again or backtrack a bit to see where it is or was. When you get this crosshair icon to show up again that is when you can actually start attacking from a distance for bows and staffs. Seems pretty sensitive about you having to have them right in your line of sight. If you turn you loose the warning. So I do a lot of sneaking around... which is my style anyway. I'm not a charge right in 'hack and slasher' smile;)

As for whacking creeps you can just start to swing whenever you want, even at a tree... no waiting around to do that. But be careful, you will still get a crosshair and name tag showing up on what you will be hitting, so if you are hitting something with a guard or townsperson who is also attacking the creep you may end up hitting them... and sometimes they all come after you smile:p

Yep, same here. You may want to hold off on buying the game till the new "Two Worlds - Epic Edition" comes on the shelves. This will have both Expansion Packs as well as the original game on one DVD for pretty much the same price of the original game itself! They said it would be out by the 19th of this month, but I had someone go to BestBuys today and the store said it hasn't come into shipment yet. So there may be a bit of a shipping delay.

Groms... cute smile:?:
Hehehe, I always start that way too, get some skills up before I start to really get into the quests. Better to be a little stronger than dead, but death is just a sort of a 'rebirth', you don't get any penalties for doing that smile:D

Quote

Really...I have stopped to take so many screenies that I stand around admiring the sights and sounds more than I probably should, hehehe. Oh, and when you get a horse you'll find that they are more or less easier or harder to handle, which makes it pretty realistic too. The Grom camp off the road has a horse and he is so much easier to ride than the ones the rancher offers you as a reward. Too bad you can't sell them, or I haven't found that feature yet smile:(

Anyways, I'm glad you like it, Craig! Oh, and the more that you invest in riding, swimming, etc. the better you get, of course. Only difference between this game and The Elder's Scrolls games is that you only get one point to invest in at each level you make... unlike the other game where the more you just practiced in-game skills the higher your skill learning goes, whether or not you make a level. That I miss smile:|

hehe, got my horse. took a while to figure out there was more than one bandit camp. i'm about lvl 5 now and have a fairly nice, nasty looking stave with big bludgeoning amount and a spirit damage hit. so, i can even fight ghosts...sort of smile:)

still having trouble aiming magic missles smile:(

i havent taken any screenies yet. i took a lot in never winter's night 2, but so far, none here. i did go for a swim, though smile:)

ok, how do you get the teleporter quest done? i've gone through the thing several times, both ways and the guy still wont acknowledge it.

yes, i do kind of like it. the alchemy bit is pretty clever. the fighting is simple and most stuff works like you'd think it shld. just dont make the mistake of putting back an item you just got from the merchant. there are no 'take-backs' there. he simply assumes you're selling something and pays accordingly.

and yes, i prefer a straight skill system rather than xp + lvls = skill points. just never made sense to me that i could fight with a sword for a lvl or two and then increase my bow skill from that.

i wish i still had my MUD. i designed an entire system of magic, fighting, mind-body-spirit system. it was clever as hell smile:)

ah well smile:)

ah! it's not in docs and settings; it's in my documents! ok. got it

I had the same problem, it was giving me a headache trying to find where they stored the screenshots too. I've noticed that XP or higher has our personal files in our My Docs now, but sometimes I forget and waist a lot of time looking for them in the program's folders.

BTW, Craig, that horse you have... is it the one you got as a reward for getting rid of those bandits the rancher needed your help with? There's an even better horse out there that is easier to control, the Groms have him in their camp just east of Teleport from your starting town. And that old mage wants you to go activate a particular teleport elsewhere, just call up your big map and hover your pointer over the different 'BLUE' glowing dots, it will tell you if that's the teleport you need to activate. The 'RED' glowing dots are enemies and the 'Green' ones are your finished quest givers smile;)

And, nice pic! Isn't that world just lovely!?!?

thanks, foxxee smile:)

i figured out most of it, though i didnt know the dots were color coded for a reason. that's good to know.

i've also completed the quest as far as the demo will let me go, so now i'm just wandering around looking at the sights smile:)

oh, and yes, that's the horse from the quest reward and yes, i found the other horse as well, but i really didnt see any difference in the way they handled. perhaps you had a skill increase when you found the 2nd one? dunno. but i couldnt see much difference. but then, i'm only level 1 skill in horse smile:)

i've found the 3 grom totems. i also beat a cyclops after a ton of work and i also killed some glacier orcs at a camp. of course, that's after dying to all those things quite a few times smile:) the cyclops was the hardest. one hit from him and splat, i'm hamburger smile:D

yes, i finally finished the teleport quest and got the 3 stones. that's kinda neat smile:)

there is a certain square portions of the overall map that is lighter than the rest. i'm going to guess that's my boundaries while i'm playing the demo. if so, i'm just wandering around now, playing out a few minor quests, like the grom totems.

and yes, this is a pretty realistic looking world and quite beautiful in spots. impressive smile:) i shld have taken a screenie of that cyclops. he was a pain to kill.

i've also noticed a couple of things about this world that bug me a bit. there doesnt seem to be any respawn of critters. once dead, that's it. i hope the full version and multi arent like that.

i did like that if i lured the groms or orcs over to a pack of wolves, the wolves would attack whoever was available, me or the others. that's a good feature.

i may have to start playing with never winter nights again. this is kind of fun smile:)

What level have you reached with the demo, Craig?

I think I got up to level 14 before I completely uncovered the fog-of-war from the demo map. Actually, there is another horse who's somewhere west or northwest in another camp full of bandits. I ended up with this one, and you may be right, I kept giving myself levels in riding.

In the multi-game version I think the creeps are suppose to respawn, but that did bother me too... it's no fun if you wipe everything out and have nothing left to do. I'll have to go read their web site on that again, I may be wrong... hope not though. I've finished all the maps to be opened up with the first game so now I'm wondering whether or not the entire world will be open to my lvl 33 Ranger next time I pop in for another multi-game. If that isn't the case I'll be further disappointed because I really don't like having boundaries and restrictions placed on my character. I want to be able to go where I want when I want and know that something is going to be there for me again and again when I revisit places I've already gone through. Otherwise I'll have to stoop to killing bunnies and doe-doe birds smile:p

To be honest, I wish I could go back to W.o.W, there is so much more you can do there... not as visually exciting, but so much more than just hack-and-slash. I had a career there and was making great money selling at the auction house after a day of adventuring. I liked the point-n-click interface for using your choice of weapons too... something this game and the Elder Scroll games don't give you. Initially I had to sign up with a credit card, but when my subscription started I purchased a time-card of 2 months and used that and then canceled my credit card sub. That way, though I haven't been there for a few weeks, even if my time expires they keep your character forever and you can show up again when you feel like playing and have your character still waiting there for you smile:D

I just got bored of the sort of players there, most of them are 14-20 year old and at my age I just felt sort of odd one out. So playing solo was more fun for me. Though I did join a nice guild there of "older and more mature" people (all around or near my age) I just couldn't get into the party raids and instances with the group. Just got too nervous with everyone throwing fireball and arrows and clashing sword all around. I'm just not a real fighter I guess smile;)

Oh well... I'm torn between the two. Wish someone would come up with all the best parts of these rpgs and roll them out into one fantastic game world!

Steve!!!
Hello to you too, and thanks so much for welcoming me back smile:)
Yes, because I left for part of the reasons I shared with you privately, and got extremely bored while away it was because you suggested W.o.W. that I wanted to check that and others out, and well they were giving away 14 days of free game play so I wasn't going to turn that down. Hehehe, they are smart, I was hooked in less than 3 days, and decided to go ahead and buy it, especially since they lowered their monthly payment smile:D

As you can see above, I'm playing Two Worlds right now, but I have made a few filters since I've been away and decided (because Carl asked if I would) to submit some of them... for now. I owe it Filter Forge and those that use my filters so much that I've gotten all the HUs that I have smile;)

I read somewhere that someone was suggesting some sort of contest and awarding the winner with HU's??? I'd love to donate some of my HU's for this if Vlad decides to maybe create some sort of Filter Forge Promotional Contest! But I don't want to twist anyone's arm... just would like to help somehow.

Oh, since I'm thinking about it, my Craftmans page over at Renderosity is not the link I gave... sorry about that guys... it's: http://www.renderosity.com/homepage.php?userid=532917

Carl, if you check this out you'll see that I used your "Grandma's Buttons" filter. People love those... hehehe.

And Craig, yep, you do have to have a membership to view the Free Stuff, but it's FREE to register anyway smile;)

it was because you suggested W.o.W.

Yeah, I remember trying to get a group of us to try it out together and form our own guild.....thought it would be nice for us to get to know each other better by talking to each other in real-time while we destroyed the barbarian hordes..... smile;) smile:D LOL....

The "Two Worlds" looks cool.....is it as addictive as WOW??? smile:)

having never played WoW, i cant speak to how addictive by comparison, but it's pretty cool. it may be a bit limited, though. it really is a more hack-n-slash than quest or merchant type rpg's. morrowwind was very verbose, but limited on critters. this one is quite the opposite, less talk, more kill. not completely; there are quests and a main storyline that is pretty coherent. but i could see tiring of this in fairly short order.

what is good about TW (Two Worlds) is the really well done terrain, the ability to ride horses and fairly convincingly and a general easy learning curve. i had to ask very few questions that i didnt find myself in fairly short order.

the skill system is pretty limited in the demo and from what i can tell of what foxxee said, fairly limited in the full version also. and maybe limited isnt the right word there... maybe it's more linear or constricted than what i'd prefer. i'd prefer a straight skill system; you use it, you get better at it, period.

at this point i can recommend looking at the demo, definitely. and then let that be your guide on the rest. it's a BIG demo, almost a gig, so you'd better have broadband. though, you might be able to get it on a cd based on something i saw on their website.

but for just running around and fighting stuff, it's pretty cool. i now have firewall and i'm having a ball frying groms, orcs, wolves and bears with it... even skeletons smile:)

Hmmm, well what Craig said is pretty much the way I feel about it. I am honestly, though, getting tired of just the hack and slash without much else to do. It's fun, but you want to have more than just that to do, unless you like things like Doom and Diablo where that's all you do smile:D

Anyways, I'm also frustrated with the online portion of the game because so far I have finished 4 or 5 map portions now and what's starting to irritate me is that I keep getting the same old requests from the town folks each and every time. "Oh please, mercenary, there are terrible monsters out there that have the taint. I'm afraid to leave town... could you please get rid of them? You will be well paid, of course" or "Those awful Groms (or Orcs) attacked our shipment of supplies. Can you believe they just left the food and took everything else? Please, mercenary, could you go retrieve our food for us before we all starve?"

Seriously, I got those 2 requests last night 3 different times in 3 different towns smile:p

I will tell you what I hated about W.o.W. you have to pay but 14.95 a month is still bearable for me, and the graphics are not as exciting as TW. In fact, if you are aware of your graphic environment like we would be you'll notice that quite a bit of the environment is not 3D at all, but 2D. The branches on trees, the plants you pick for alchemy and some other decorations are flat 2 dimensional things stacked together the way you would stack playing cards to make a house of cards. That got to me a lot.

But, what I love about W.o.W is the huge variety of things you can do and places you can go and quests you can finish when you want or when you are able. You build a reputation with the different factions (and there are something like 20 different ones in the game world). The Night Hunters, the guild my character belongs to, is super nice, mature and very helpful. If you need help in getting your mount (ridable Tigers, Snow Leopards, etc.. for the elves, Horses for the humans, Elephants for the Draenei, Goats for Dwarves, Mechanical Ostridges for Gnomes)They have a bank vault (as do most Guilds) but they really take care of all the goodies they and other members donate from finds. If you see something you would like to have or need you just request it and will usually have it sent to you. You have your post box, your own bank account to store other items. And yes, you learn your skills by using them... fighting with your choice of weapon, mining, engineering, leather working, tailoring, blacksmithing. And you can turn around and sell what you make or find at the big auction houses around the world. Good money can be made there smile;)

Oh yeah, you can swim and fish and pearl dive if you want, or just hunt for treasures besides make things with your chosen professions. You get 2 choices, but you can all take up fishing, first aid and cooking as well.

Here's my Armory Profile if you're interested in taking a peek at my characters Stats and Skills and equipment. The icon isn't a pic of her though, that's just a generic representation of the Night Elf:

Ok... I'm done, and now I wish I could go back there but I really was getting quite bored, didn't know anyone really very well.

well, i kind of like hack and slash... up to a point. i played ultima online for about a week and tried playing a smithy. it was ok until you had to go out to the mines. i got so badly beat up by player killers there that i just quit after that first week.

and on two worlds demo, i finally got caught picking locks in the big town. lol. they offered to let me go for 100 gold or to throw me out of town. i was already broke from buying stuff in town so i had to accept the latter smile:D i love playing thieves at times smile:)

when i was still playing morrowwind, i learned to how to mod the game. i made myself several very powerful characters. one was a flying thief with incredible thieving abilities. lol. that was so funny. i'd pick a lock, rip off some shopkeep and fly away even if i got caught. it was hilarious for a while smile:)

Wow! I never knew there was this side of you, Craig... sound like you can be pretty smile:dgrin: Now for me, I'm just an smile:angel: smile;)

Yes, I loved playing Morrowwind because you could do some fantastic things in there. I trained my character to jump from very high places to escape being caught by monsters who would have otherwise smashed me with one whack, like our Cyclops friend at the tower in TW smile:D I also practiced till I couldn't hit the jump key any more to learn how to scale nearly shear sides of mountains so I could go that direction in case there were no roofs or cliffs to jump off of... lol That was fun about the Elder Scrolls! Some things, like the flying bit, they removed from their sequel through... that was really disappointing smile:cry:

Ok, well I caved in at all my raving about W.o.W last night and re-installed the game so I could pick up where my Hunter left off. Good thing her Ghost Saber didn't get hungry waiting for 2 weeks to get back into the game. But I'm still determined to keep playing TW... though it is getting a bit boring with the same quests in each map I have to reveal to move on to the next. The environment is so fantastic, the 3d detail and the armor/weapons are great looking and so widely varied. They have tons of great stuff.

Oh, btw Craig, did you know that if you buy (eventually) the whole set of a particular armor you get some very nice booster bonuses? Also, you can stack your weapons and armor on what you are already wearing to add additional specs and stats to it... it's almost never ending! My lvl 33 in the multi-game has pieces of armor or weapons that have been stacked some 20 times over and are super powerful now with all kinds of added goodies to them smile:D

Just make sure that when you are looking through the merchant's shop and you hover your pointer over something that is similar that the item you want to add it to turns a very bright green, or they are not compatible for some reason and you end up wasting your money... I know, I found out too many times till I was broke smile:(

Now for me, I'm just an smile:angel:

uh-huh. ok. and i've got some nice swampla...er, real estate in florida... smile:D

well, your jumping and climbing in morrowwind was my hacking smile:) it was fun making some really whacky characters. the problem with making super characters is that the game gets really stale really fast.

i had wondered about the armor and weapons of the same type. this was done in another game i played. sets. nice bonuses. i'll look into that some more now that you've confirmed it.

and as for the stacking of armor/weapons, i had noticed this on one piece of armor. i think it was my helmet. quite surprised me and i hadnt figured out why it worked, so the thing about hovering my pointer over items for a bright green is great news.

also, is there any sort of herb/alchemist merchant any where? i looked all over in the big town, but couldnt find one.

hehe, gone back to WoW already. i truly wish i had gotten in with the right folks on gaming. i've devised game mechanics that would pretty much blow everything out there away. TW has really nice graphics and some game innovations, but they're lacking a bit in 'good gaming'. they seem to have fallen into the trap of 'good graphics' = 'good gaming' and i've seen many companies make the same mistake. one of the best games i ever played had no graphics and it was online, multiplayer, rpg and just fun as hell. and another used only ascii graphics and it too was fun as hell. me and two coders devised a great ascii graphics game. my design, their coding. that was fun smile:)

anyways, i'm just wandering around now in the demo. i've been pretty much everywhere, so it's about time to see what i can hack or go out and get the full version... or both smile:)

I don't think there are any alchemists in this game... which is strange as that is one thing you can actually create your own formulas, which I find pretty exciting smile:D

In W.o.W. there are Alchemists and Herbalists, Skinners/Tanners and Leather Workers, Mining and Blacksmithing, Jewelry Making and Enchanting, Tailoring and Engineering trainers, buyers and sellers of equipment, material and patterns/recipes for these professions as well.

BTW, Craig and/or Steve, I do have a couple of invitation cards with codes if either of you would like to try W.o.W. out for 10 free days? Just let me know and I can email you the codes for that.

Also, Craig... the Realm I'm playing in is a 'Normal' realm, not a PvP realm. I hated that too about UO. I was literally trapped in town because there were players that waited for you to step beyond the city walls and guards so they could kill you and steal your stuff. But in the realm I'm playing in no one can Kill-Steal, if you hit first it's tagged as yours, even in groups everything is fair.

They have Normal realms for those of us who want to actually explore and play the game quests and story line, PvP realms for those that want to kill their fellow players of like mindedness, and Role-Playing realms where those that want to act out their parts as the Orc or Elf characters they create. No modern chatting or references allowed there... you play as if you were actually acting out a character in that fantasy world with no knowledge of any RL outside of those games. I also enjoy that sort of game playing. And yes, I loved all the text type of games and the simple ascii graphic to depict your world. I started out with P&P (pencil and paper) rpgs when they were out of a book and you sat around a table and kept maps and notes of your travels... loved that!

i went back to an earlier saved game, before i got caught stealing and thrown out of town. i couldnt find any way to un-sully my reputation in tharbarkin and they wouldnt let me back in. they wouldnt even offer me a penalty payment of gold like they did when i was first caught. so, the only hope was to start again from an earlier save.

hehe, and i got caught again, only this time i bribed the guards to look the other way and they did. lol.

and i looked again and still couldnt find any townspeople that were alchemists.

i also looked at what you'd said about stacking armor and weapons. ok, got that now and it works great smile:)

yes, asheron's call had norm and pvp servers as well. good idea. never saw one that had 'in character' servers though. i played a few MUDs that demanded you stay in character, but never a pay for. i always spoke normally and just told folks i was from another universe, which was pretty much true smile:)

and thanks for the offer on the WoW invites, but i'm guessing i'd like WoW too much and i'd better stay away for now smile;)

Ok, I really do understand that statement... because that's what happened to me too smile:D
So, if you still want to get TW let me know and we can check it out online together, ok Craig? I still like it and I'm still playing, but I'm thinking I need to have some others there too to make it all worth while for me... or at least tell me what you think of the online version's setup. I can't understand why they've made it the way they did, it feels very restrictive chopping up the map and allowing you to only play portions at a time (and same quests, no real story like the single player has.)
