Actually, if you surf the web... people differ on how to spell this word. The variants are
Offtopic Off Topic Off-topic Off-Topic I looked it up in several dictionaries, checked it on some forums that have a sub-forum named in such a way, and I also used Google to look up the popularity of each variant... and I'm more confused than ever  So any opinions are welcome. |

I'm sorry. Myself, I prefer Off Topic as they are two words, but that's just me.
If you're looking at American sites and how they spell things...keep in mind that a very large percentage of Americans these days are unable to understand the difference between Your and You're. |

well, Offtopic is definitely incorrect. the most correct would be as two words, not hyphenated. however, words like 'off-the-wall', which have become sort of idiomatic, do use hyphens. so, i would think 'off topic' or 'off-topic' would both be ok. however, there is no listing in the dictionary for 'off-topic', meaning that the dictionary seems to be treating it as two words.
the bottom line is, what communicates the idea the best. If wishes were horses... there'd be a whole lot of horse crap to clean up!

Well, 'Offtopic' is definitely ugly, IMO. I'd go for 'Off Topic' or 'Off-Topic'.

I agree.....I think that this "OffTopic" catagory is a great idea!!!
True.....but I think they are going for a very "business-like" facade to the forum. Something like "Chat Room" might be a little more colorful..... Steve
