I was looking more closely, it looks like the background and the objects in the foreground do not share the same light source. That may be what's bugging you.

Um... possibly smile;) smile:D part of the homework was to pick which position to set the holons at and I went for a part side on effect.

Could be.. I might do some more and experiment because there was two different types of displacement mapping techniques, that one was the easier one.

lol I need to save some money for that but fingers crossed I get some together and sign up for the November start dates most classes have on them 3 sites I have been looking at. Just have to decide what kind of class to go for. Am very curious about Terragen 2, mind I seem to be having issues following the online tutorials on peoples web pages so maybe doing a class might help me decide if I'll go for the commercial version or not.

Oh! we have homework to do for next week. This week's extra one we have extra time to do that work and its open house. Basically use imagination and what we have learnt to create something.

Yep this one http://www.lvsonline.com/index.shtml does some vue 6 classes but I need to read the basic info to find out which version you require. They also do one for Terragen V.2 but you don't need the full version for that class.

Just looking over the differences. Not totally sure but I think vue xStream works from within 3d apps while Vue Infinite works as a standalone product. They offer a non-time-limited PLE - which is very nice. I notice they offer Introductory, intermediate and advanced Vue classes whereas with Terragen they only offer beginner.
Here is what they say they teach you:

"We will cover the function generator and how fractal nodes are used to create procedural terrains. Then we will use HDRI, IBL, and radiosity lighting, animations, Multi-Pass renders and custom plant creation."

I don't know about you but to me those sound like some of the most interesting things possible. When I get some time I would like to take the classes.
Have you downloaded the Vue PLE?

yep I downloaded the vue PLU but been pretty busy to use it much, am sure I opted for the xstream one of the two though and it seems fine as a stand-a-lone. Part from will take me a while to save up for that version. Probably save up for the mid ranged one then work my way up the list.

PC has been tied up rendering a Terragen image most of the day, took just under 20 hours.

Think will just get an early night and start stage two of my homework early tomorrow.

I know what you mean, I had a leak in the pipe from the meter to the house, as water goes to the lowest point the hole wasn't where it was suppose to be and it's like digging concrete round here, then to manage and stop the drips in the new joins was a pain......... ok boring story LOL smile:D

This one I did the displacement thingy on a group of holons, not individual ones.

I know that Carl was informed that Blender was a waste of time.....but I've been looking at it as another "free" (open source) light renderer that has other light and ray trace programs that can be used with it (plugins and export exterior programs).....without doing model construction in it. Any opinions on that??? smile:)

Since we're showing off our HUs check this out. That's right – that's an HU snippet. smile:pimp: Even more rare than an EP. smile:-p I have no explanation for it. Hopefully it is a consequence of someone studying it. That's a very satisfying thought – it certainly took some thought to make.
