Well with the 'dead pages' mounting you probably have Ahimsa smile;) smile:D. I'm just curious as to why I'm the one that needs to explain what it means to Carl...

He just makes things like that up.

Hey Ron, Bel, Craig, and carl smile:)

The Vue samples look pretty good.....but unfortunately, it looks like the learning version is the same as Maya with writing crossed the work area.....I really don't like that.....but I fully understand why they do it...... smile;)

I've currently got my blinders on and pursuing TS.....the more I get into it, the more I'm liking it..... smile:)

No, not yet.....going to learn all of the program and native lighting first.....then go for the goodies.....if I feel it is worth it over going to either 3ds Max or Maya...... smile:)

I started taking a peek at the node-based part and the SDK.....I'm surprised at how much you can do with it.....and I'm still kinda amazed that it is a free program.....it shouldn't be and probably won't remain that way with what they have planned for it.....

The animation part is definitely lacking (in comparison to Maya) and needs to be improved.....but the modeling seems like it will let you create anything imaginable.....which is what I want..... smile;) smile:)

Where are you with Maya right now???

What are you using for guidance? Are there tutorials included with it?

Still trying to get the big picture while concentrating mostly on the details. At this moment I am learning UV mapping. That is the process of building the maps that define where the textures go. Once I have the UV maps I load them into PS to create the various surface maps then load them back into Maya. It is all very interesting. smile:)

Yeah, it's excellent.....downloadable help manual with integrated video tutorials.....tons of free video classes from the website.....and best of all, the people in the forum go out of their way to help no matter if you are just starting out or an advanced user...... smile:)

Hey Steve. This link may provide more info than you're interested in but I will post it just in case. It deals with the pipeline used for the movie 'Charlotte's Web'. Much of it was made using 3dsMax and rendered with V-Ray. If you skip to about the middle of the podcast you will catch most of the description of the pipeline.

Don't give up - it starts a little slow but by the time you get to the middle, it becomes almost unbearably exciting and tremendously moving. Ok, not all that moving but intensely interesting. smile:)

I guess 'unbearably exciting' is something of a stretch as well. And intensely may not be the exact best modifier. smile:( But as Abraham Lincoln said - if this is your thing this is just the type of thing you will like. smile:)

It would be an interesting project and you're getting some excellent renders there but I just spend two solid days replacing my water heater. smile:evil: smile:( smile:cry: That's four days without touching Maya. smile:( So I'm about to go crazy. I have to get back on track asap. So no filters for me but if you pursue it I hope you will post some samples. smile:) Good luck. smile:D

Ditto, think it's a side effect from that virus I had in August/September. Today just haven't felt with it at all. Tried to do my Xenodreams homework but my head wasn't keeping up so am just going to get an early'ish night for a change. That means heading to bed before 1am lol. Right have fun you lot, am going now get some shut eye and hopefully be refreshed enough in the morning to do some homework, web page, etc etc and some SL work.

Daylight savings just kicked in here and the body clock hasn't changed so getting up at 5.30 in the morning is a killer - who ever though daylight saving was a good idea, plus your carpets fade quicker with that extra hour of sunlight smile;) smile:D

Things have been bogged down lately due to RL concerns. Winter is coming so I had to get the windows ready. That's all finished though. Yesterday my niece was in a car accident but she is fine - just beat up a little. Seatbelt did not lock so she bumped her head and shoulder. Anyway, things are getting back to normal I have returned to working with UV mapping. smile:)

How about you. Any Dreamweavering or photographing or otherwise?

Still ouch though!

My Great Aunt and Uncle, their car was rear ended while they was at traffic lights the other week. Ended up with their car being written off cause back and front got crushed. Just very lucky they came out of it with whiplash. Fingers crossed they don't get any side effects though.
