if you mean can I stop and start the render time I can

I was thing more along the lines of rendering the things like glowing objects, the things that are dull, the specularity, bump etc. It can be very helpful not to have to render any more than necessary.

Okay I was about to upload some art to DeviantArt, so started reading the Submission policy agreement, keep getting to part 3 and thinking um? Really? Followed by wonder how many people really read this? This is just part 3 it goes on and on and it wouldn't surprise me if people skip down and just accept it.

3. License To Use Artist Materials. As and when Artist Materials are uploaded to the deviantART Site(s), Artist grants to deviantART a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to do the following things during the Term:

a) to prepare and encode Artist Materials or any part of them for digital or analog transmission, manipulation and exhibition in any format and by any means now known or not yet known or invented;

b) to display, copy, reproduce, exhibit, publicly perform, broadcast, rebroadcast, transmit, retransmit, distribute through any electronic means (including analog and digital) or other means, and electronically or otherwise publish any or all of the Artist Materials, including any part of them, and to include them in compilations for publication, by any and all means and media now known or not yet known or invented ;

c) to modify, adapt, change or otherwise alter the Artist Materials (e.g., change the size) and use the Artist Materials as described in Section 3(b); and

d) the right to sublicense to any other person or company any of the licensed rights in the Artist Materials, or any part of them, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

e) Artist acknowledges that Artist will not have any right, title, or interest in any other materials with which Artist Materials may be combined or into which all or any portion of Artist Materials may be incorporated.

f) During the Term, deviantART's licenses under this Agreement include the right to use any part of the Artist Materials in the promotion, advertising or marketing of the DeviantART Sites.

g) As used in this Agreement, the term "Artist Materials" means any content uploaded to the deviantART Site(s) which may include without limitation Artist's name(s) (including professional names), trademarks, trade names, likenesses, photographs, biographical materials, audio-visual materials, artwork, liner notes, and other graphical, textual, video, film or audio materials and any and all "skins," computer-generated images or other artwork or images that Artist submits to deviantART in any medium or format whatsoever.

wow got my post on the DeviantArt Forums locked! One of the Admin put this "This Forum is for suggestions related to deviantART."

Would think me suggesting this in the Suggestion area :- Poll suggestion, How many people have read and understood the Submission Policy?

After reading the Submission policy agreement and deciding I'm 100% sure about it.

It got me wondering how many people really read the policy through?

And Does DeviantArt really need the following (which is just a small snippet from your submission policy Agreement)

3. License To Use Artist Materials. As and when Artist Materials are uploaded to the deviantART Site(s), Artist grants to deviantART a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to do the following things during the Term:

a) to prepare and encode Artist Materials or any part of them for digital or analog transmission, manipulation and exhibition in any format and by any means now known or not yet known or invented;

b) to display, copy, reproduce, exhibit, publicly perform, broadcast, rebroadcast, transmit, retransmit, distribute through any electronic means (including analog and digital) or other means, and electronically or otherwise publish any or all of the Artist Materials, including any part of them, and to include them in compilations for publication, by any and all means and media now known or not yet known or invented ;

c) to modify, adapt, change or otherwise alter the Artist Materials (e.g., change the size) and use the Artist Materials as described in Section 3(b); and

d) the right to sublicense to any other person or company any of the licensed rights in the Artist Materials, or any part of them, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

Would really be classed as a DeviantArt thing.. um.. Sent the guy that closed my thread a message politely asking him which thread I should post it under.

The instructions from deviant art to the lawyers must have been something like; How can we word this to avoid any possibility of litigation even if it means losing a significant number of users. This would indicate to me that they are operating from a position of weakness not necessarily malignance. Maybe they should rename it to MasochisticArt. smile:|

My nephew caught his hand in the chain/sprocket of his bicycle a couple of days ago. He is fine – just scratches. While in the hospital visiting him I noticed the security mirrors at the end of each hall. They were half spheres.
Do you think it would be possible to use something like this to make images for lighting environments?

Here is a better picture of one.

Um I'm not impressed with DeviantArt at all. This was the reply I got from that staff member.

You weren't making a suggestion you were making a complaint. Infact an overally generalized and falsified complaint.

Am trying to figure out how it's falsified. Totally glad I didn't sign up to a year long account.

Okay after reading that guy's reply I did some searching and found the FQA and the relevant part in that, which was this.

Does deviantART own my art?
The Submission Agreement explicitly states that you, as the original artist, retain any and all rights appropriate to your artwork at all times. These rights include, but are not limited to, the full and exclusive copyrights to your original artwork. By agreeing to the Submission Agreement what you are really doing is granting deviantART the basic permissions we need in order to display, showcase, and make your artwork available to viewers using the various on-site systems and tools.

At no time do you lose ownership or any of the exclusive copyrights granted to you by law on any deviation or scrapbook submission which you make to deviantART

DeviantART will not use your work for any project without first consulting you and obtaining your consent.

So my bad, but at the same time theirs too for not making it clearer in part 3 and part 4. Mind that's what happens when things are overly legally sounding.

No, this was probly about two years ago [ haven't seen for awhile works all over the world ] - he does use Maya amongst other things, stadium shows are anything from corporate launches of a new model of a car to bands like pink floyd projection, which reminds me did you notice Wright died

That's how I read it but I'm even more confused after reading the FQA, mind the policy is 6 pages long I copied it just incase. Part 4 is just as confusing to me near enough, but then I'm not a lawyer.

Um I hear you, Mum has bad eyesight and would love to be able not to wear glasses or to just have one's that don't cost the earth cause of how bad her sight is. But the thought of laser surgery to correct the eye sight she's like knowing me I will be the so many percent it doesn't work for/and or end up with more problems after.

As a smoker you can never claim to be fit but as I do hard labour to support my fine art habit and can walk 16 kilometres a day or spend ten hour lifting heavy weights I'm pysically strong with a high stamina level but it I sprinted I'd be gasping for breath thanks to smoking smile;)

I used to be a smoker. I loved it. There were times when it was just me and the cigarette. When my ex and I were getting ready to have kids we agreed that good parents do not smoke or drink. So I went first and gave them up. She was supposed to follow a year later but could not do it. We broke up but it was not related to that. What kind do you smoke?

okay Glasses but only when I watch TV or go to the Cinema, am only slightly short sighted.

Smoking nope, had chronic bronchitis as a child decided against taking up smoking.

As to the Deviantart site I'm not too sure, cause other sites similar don't have policies like that. It's just keywords get me on edge, royalty-free and sublicence etc.

Ah well I need food! Skipped breakfast and its now 1pm so yep food food food!!
