lol 3 years? I make that almost 2 years.. hehe which year are you in Ron? smile;) smile:D
And yes it's the longest game I have been in. I did play another for about 4 years but was on and off. Kept leaving that one. Have had a few breaks with SL but nothing big, just the odd month.

smile:( I'm not good at counting things. I just stuck a post-it on my monitor to remind me how many Lamborghinis to model. I don't want to mistakenly do 3 or four –that would take for ever.

I think ff would have kept my interest for at least a couple but it was interrupted due to the expiration of my trial - otherwise who knows. Wait a minute! I did play pool (rl pool (I don't know what you guys call it (if it's even popular there( another name for it is 8 ball))) almost every night for more than 10 years. That was more than 10 years ago. Of course by the way I count things... smile:|

Yep, cant remember which if its snooker or pools but one is known as billiards too.

Been busy still sorting that store out. Here is a snapshot of what it used to look like the other day, did some external balconies to make use of the garden views.

Thank you for the glimpse into SL. Now I have about a millions questions but they can wait until I get a chance to set up a place of my own. But I do have one question. What is the limit to how tall you can make the waterfalls?
Ok, one last question. Are there any conspicuously wealthy people, like Donald Trump for example ( I don’t know if you would have heard of him - he likes to do things like build big buildings and name them Donald Trump), in SL?

i dont quite understand the purpose of SL. some folks call it a game; some call it a simulation. and yet, here's all this talk about stores and textures. and that makes it sound more like an online store. what exactly do you do in SL? what's the draw?

Craig, I think that is the draw. That unlike other games/simulations etc SL is something different to everyone that uses it. People get different things out of their SL experience. Some use SL as a platform for finding a partner or dating, some love the building side, creating, making money, using it as a business. Others love the fantasy aspect that they can be who they want to be. There's bound to be an area in Second Life that caters to everyones tastes from the cute to the totally bazaar. Although somethings are not allowed, and can get you banned if your caught.

I mean theres building with prims, creating clothing in paint packages, script writing, texture creating to sell/give away those textures in SL, sculpty creating (which is prims that have a map applied to them that was created in a 3d application so you have shaped prims that are only 1 prim count instead of high prim). Some people dance in clubs for money, some DJ, some are Model's for photo studio's in there and stores that require models. Some are full time vampires, some are in to Gorean, although its debatable if the area your in really is a Gor area, because a lot are more based on what the owner of that area believes Gor to be. Some people are Furries, which could be anything from someone that loves cute avi's to um.. people that are role playing (I'll leave it as that). But that is just a small list of possibles.

To me SL is what you make it.

uhm, what are prims?

uhm, never mind... i looked it up and found this page: http://secondlife.blogs.com/nwn/2005/...t_ove.html

lol. had to look up 'Gor' and 'Gorean' too. that's quite a culture:
Quote
pia is a Second Life avatar and an rp character in the world of John Norman's Gor as portrayed in Second Life. A kajira of the Tahari who's run away yet again, she loves to meet people from all over SLGor.

not sure i'd know what to do with a 'kajira' smile:)

ok, i think infiniview and some others may have tried to explain SL to me before. i sort of got it, but your explanation is a bit more detailed and that helps. so, it's a 'second universe' essentially, one in which you are or could roleplay, build, and act as if our real universe were non-existent and that leaves a very large gamut of experience available. that sound about right?

yep like RL really exists... tut! I mean yep kinda like that Craig. To me people that lack imagination or think about possibilities find SL harder to deal with.

There is so much you can do in there. If you want to train as a Jedi Knight you can do so. Or if you want to be a store owner selling textures, or objects created from 3d shapes (prims) you can, etc.

interesting. the programmers must have had a tricky time keeping their hands off the individual details and only working with the broad parameters.

I think a lot of the programmers/Lindens from Linden Labs, have ALT's which are additional characters/avatar's. So they do get to do hands on as well and they do tutorials, well mainly Torely Linden does anyway.

You can make money in SL. But depending on how much stock you have, what your selling, how you advertise it etc etc depends if you make a little or a lot. You can sell the Linden dollars you make for US dollars is roughly about 1000 Linden dollars to $3.50 US Dollars. I say roughly cause it varies a bit, but not much.

aaah! Not sure, cause SL has some cool things that would be really nice in FL. Like teleporting, mind even if we had the technology for that in FL I doubt the Bus companies and Car manufacturers would be happy.

Mind if we didn't have FL there would be no SL smile;) smile:D.

Ahh.. I think your meant to take the red pill quickly followed by the blue pill, then spin around 5 times then touch your toes, then do 30 seconds of the chicken dance and then sit down.. (and if your lucky you wont get locked away for a long time smile;) smile:D )

Since there are no blue pills, I will substitute slamming 6 glasses of herb tea, followed by slapping the desk and yelling Domino! And, because chickens freak out the cats I can do the squatty Russian leg kick dance – the cats are cool with that one. But I can tell you right now this is not going to work for Carl. smile:)

It's the same of modeling but the opposite for rigging. With rigging you think you have 4 hours of work to do but are exhausted after 20 minutes. I should qualify that by limiting it to 'learning' rigging. Once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. smile:)

Nice work, Ron.....and Beliria, I like your SL shop.....would be neat if FF set up a virtual world like that for authors to sell textures.....or maybe FF can work something out with SL..... smile:devil:

I thought it would be a good idea for them to open a virtual store in SL. I guess they could sell textures but mostly they could sell FF. I wonder if there are places in SL that have heavy traffic - like a mall.

Exactly.....maybe FF could set up some kind of arrangement with SL......then use it as a further reward level.....the same as my previous "storefront" reward level suggestions.....but the FF team seemed to drop off of the face of the earth every time I suggested it......so I guess that means "no"..... smile:cry: ..... smile;) smile:D

That's exactly it.....FF is a small team and thus limited to what and how fast they can do things.....but I wish that they had the resources to expand into areas like this.....and keep further incentives going to keep authors creating and contributing here after they have achieved all the program rewards.....because it's like FF is letting their main resource (authors) go after they have become well-versed with the program......

Anywho, it is what it is.....and I hope it keeps going and growing..... smile;) smile:)
