I did the button project (the link I provided earlier) with a website in mind. But after I completed the buttons and coverted them to the smallest gifs that still looked good I was left with a webpage, with just five buttons, that would only be usable from the fastest internet connections. That's when I got out of web graphics and decided to never go back.
Look how pretty these buttons are Carl (be sure to click on the thumbnail). No way I'm turn them into low res web crap. You should see how nice they look when you do a mouseover.

Of course this is a static image but I designed them so that the mouse cursor acted like a light source and the highligts would change with a mouseover.

Right. That's why it works in the movies, they tie up whole render farms for months then show it to you in an hour and a half.

I have never found anything even close to the quality that he offers. I don't know of anything on web graphics. I remember looking into styles sheets or something like that but that was just before I decided to get out of it.

This looked interesting. I found it here. smile:)

These two statements:

"Worried about the future of GoLive? Wondering if you need to learn Dreamweaver? Have a look at our free Dreamweaver tutorials. You'll find some free Dreamweaver video clips from Total Training that will help you decide whether this is the right program for you. You can also read about the latest Dreamweaver news, and download a free trial of Dreamweaver."

"Although Dreamweaver is the tool of choice for many Web designers, Adobe's GoLive also offers a professional quality Web authoring tool that integrates natively with numerous other industry leading products, such as Photoshop."

make me wonder if maybe Dreamweaver would not be the best one. After all this is from a Golive website. smile:?:

I just watched that short clip on cascading style sheets. It didn't say much but I was completely lost. I guess I would have to start at the beginning.

I think you're more into Golive right now but I also wanted to mention these videos.

Is there a programing language at the core of Golive that you will have to learn in order to use it effectively? What is it?

I have been trying to get a better understanding of how the web design software category is broken down generally and specifically where Adobe's product offerings fit. I was reading in this article here (and here) what is used to create a website that allows for things like blogs, scheduling, shopping etc. and about the software required. Here is the list of software they used and what it does. Can you tell from this list where Golive fits? Does Golive do all of these things?

# Drupal: An open source content management system.

# MySQL: An open source database store.

# PHP: A Web-based language for supporting dynamic content.

# PHPMyAdmin: A PHP tool intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web.

# MySQL Query Browser: A graphical client to work with your MySQL databases and run queries.

# MySQL Administrator: A GUI to administer your MySQL Server.

# Apache: An open source Web server.

# Eclipse: An open source development environment.

# CVS: A source code management system integrated into Eclipse to track code changes.

My thing is there arnt enough Sci-fi/fantasy series to my liking as it is. So I tend not to slate what there is. Annoying thing though when really really ace ones show up they terminate them to soon! Like Firefly, Dark Angel, The 4400, Journeyman and heaps more. Time to go wail in the corner for all the expired sci-fi/fantasy programs smile:cry:.

I don't know much about Golive so I did a search, not even sure if you can still buy it Ron. Looks like Dreamweaver is the main one from them now.

Mind that search lead to me searching for web hosts, and my god there are loads!! The one I thought looked good, seems to have gone down hill from all the reviews I can find on it smile:( which is a shame cause it looks good on the website.

exactly, our tv put them on late at night and then often doesn't even bother finishing series just take it off, the only Sci-fi we have on at the moment is Stargate Atlantis - we are obviously in the minority as they rate badly here, which is a bummer as they are my favorite too smile:( smile:)

I think the big thing at the moment is Reality tv, which is a fast anyway cause it's not reality tv cause they are playing up to the camera!

I think I have only watched a little of Big Brother UK, even less of the BB anywhere else in the world ones. Only reality tv I tend to watch are more of the documentary types.

OMG.. it's just dawned on me, most of the stuff I was watching on tv has finished for the season! smile:cry: Think the only thing thats started up is Ghost whisperer series 3.
Oh me! oh my! Will have to trawl though all the stations and see what I can find.. Oh my bad think we started watching the new Flash Gordon more too smile:D, shows you how bad my sci-fi fix needs filling lol!

Hey you think Ahimsa is okay? She seems mighty quiet of late, unless she's missing Steve? Okay scrap that thought, was just going to say they arn't the same person are they.. but forget I said that.. smile:D

No. smile:( I do not plan on texturing any of the tutorial models. Texturing will be a learning phase all by itself - after modeling.

Quote
Carl wrote:

It's a good thing, for me at least, about the coding. The thing that cost me most in terms of aggravation and time was my failure to recognize the need for structured, high quality, tutorials on Maya's scripting language. I knew from the beginning that it was crucial but I thought I could pick it up as I went along. This seat-of-the-pants approach has been a big mistake. I find learning programming syntax to be especially tedious and difficult so I should have made a point of focusing on just that.

It's Sci-fi/fantasy, and at the moment it's that or repeats of other stuff smile:(. Mind I think with some you need to watch a few episodes to get the lay of the land so to speak.

And that lass was in the 4400 as well, she's a cool actress. Might have to google her and see what else she's been in, and if she has ever acted in rolls were she doesn't seem slightly nuts smile:D
