It was because I used an image of the statue of liberty. It is considered cliché and banned. I did not know that and learned it the hard way. I thought it seemed a little arbitrary and not a good enough reason to ban it.

Okay do they have a list of what you cant use? and if they don't then they shouldn't have disqualified you, or they should point that out and give you time to change that image.

Yes, it is clearly spelled out. As is the masking rule that got this one banned.

Actually they never would have known I used a mask but after I learned the rule I had it retroactively disqualified. They even took my little trophy icon away. smile:cry:

Sorry got distracted, first episode of the new series of Dr Who smile:blush: Ron the seed pic and how you did it is excellent, as the Eiffel tower is only a small part of the concept and application, to say the least you were robbed - I'm very impressed with you Ron smile8) The flower pic stinks - no only kidding smile:D

I 'Placed' them as smart objects (vectors) in Photoshop. This allows for repeated transformations. Then used the Photoshop warp tool.
Here (and even better here) is a more detail explanation - if you have time to read the captions.

I will finish this tonight. I ventured out on my own of the final section (the laser box attachment). It took to solid days of forcing my method to work but I finally got it. It's much harder working without help.
All I have left is the silencer and hammer. I will be glad to wrap it up - I'm tired of looking at it. I wanted to replace the hammer with a trebuchet but I need to move on.

thanks Ron I'll read it all - as a badly self taught PS & illustrator there is so much I don't know about, you are obviously highly skilled, I presumed you used one of the blend option to place the labels without loosing the shadows , will read your thing fully, I thought your idea was very clever and perfectly executed smile8)

Textures are the next phase - after I complete modeling. I will probably never texture these tutorial models as I am keen to get started with my own designs.

It's not too bad. Most of the complicated parts are generated mathematically by Maya. A lot of it (most of the handle) is blocked in rough then Maya generate the smooth graceful parts. This entire model if done by a pro would only take a morning.

The only blending done was a multiply. this was because I did most of the work with the camera. Here is the raw image, cropped then placed, from ACR into PS.
Hold on a sec and I will post the layers info.

Here is the only blend mode used. Note, the group blend mode is set to pass-through so it does not contribute.

They are still bitmaps but the changes are stored as vectors and not committed - so each interpolation is not based on the previous interpolation but the original bitmap. If that sounds confusing it is because I do not have a perfectly clear idea of how it is done, only how it works.

With CS3 (which I do not have) they introduced smart filters!!! I would love to get my hands on that.

Yes. Adobe didn't quite make the case for me with CS3. As much as I wanted smart filters (which is the only thing) I could not justify the cost. If I used Lightwave or Poser I would have went for it.
I'm still pissed that they do not make all camera hardware specs avaliable to all ACR versions- that is shortsighted and crappy.

I guess it's legacy issues. Autodesk has a similar problem. They have the first and third leading products in the 3d Industry - Maya and 3D Studio Max. I guess the users would freak out if they were required to dump their workflow. It must be very expensive maintaining what is essentially two different companies with two completely seperat cultures and philosophies.

Does Australia still have a lot of people using dial-up internet connections? How do most people that have broadband connections connect. Here it is mostly cable and DSL with satellite following a distant third.
